The White One: full of good stuff, so since it’s a double album I’ll give em one per record.
John – Happiness Is A Warm Gun , Revolution 9 ; Paul – Blackbird or USSR, Helter Skelter

Let It Be : John – Dig A Pony , Paul – Let It Be

Abbey Road : John – Come Together , Paul – Medley (yes I’m crediting that to him!)

This looks like fun. If I had to choose one track for each of them from each album…

Please Please Me – John: ‘Twist And Shout ‘ (That raspy voice!) / Paul: ‘I Saw Her Standing There ‘ (Incredible excitement)
With The Beatles – John: ‘It Won’t Be Long’ (Love the wordplay – It won’t be long til I belong…) / Paul: ‘All My Loving ‘ (Not enough o’s in smoooooooth)
A Hard Day’s Night – John: ‘You Can’t Do That’ (Mucho energy) / Paul: ‘And I Love Her ‘ (Perfect voice for a ballad)
Beatles For Sale – John: ‘No Reply ‘ (I can hear the heartache in his voice) / Paul: ‘I’ll Follow The Sun’ (George Martin’s fav from this album – hard to argue)
HELP! – John: ‘You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away’ (Gravelly voice) / Paul: ‘I’ve Just Seen A Face’ (Up tempo singing with each line pulling you into the next)
Rubber Soul – John: ‘The Word ‘ (I got/I read/I’ll show you the word – lead the way, John) / Paul: ‘I’m Looking Through You’ (Think you’re better than me, Jane? Check out my MBE.)
Revolver – John: ‘Tomorrow Never Knows ‘ (Do I really need to explain?) / Paul: ‘Eleanor Rigby ‘ (He always seems to have the right voice for each song he sings – this one is hauntingly beautiful)
Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band – John: ‘A Day In The Life ‘ (See ‘Tomorrow Never Knows ‘) / Paul: ‘She’s Leaving Home’ (Sing me a story, Uncle Paul)
Magical Mystery Tour – John: A flip of the coin says ‘Strawberry Fields Forever ‘ (He sings it with such feeling) / Paul: ‘Penny Lane ‘ (He makes the surreal seem so matter-of-fact)
The Beatles – John: ‘Happiness Is A Warm Gun ‘ (So many song fragments, so many voices, each well done) / Paul: ‘I Will ‘ (There may be better Paul songs on the album but in this one, the voice is sweet and the guitar strumming is some of his best)
Yellow Submarine – Not much to choose from, so for John: ‘Hey Bulldog ‘ (This easily could be my pick on any other album had it appeared on any other album – sounds like he had so much fun on it) / Paul: ‘All Together Now ‘ (same reason)
Let It Be – John: ‘Across The Universe ‘ (Incredibly beautiful voice on this one) / Paul: ‘Let It Be ‘ (his range really shines)
Abbey Road – ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ (one of my least favorite tracks on the album but the way his voice builds up to a crescendo is remarkable) / Paul: ‘Golden Slumbers ‘ (Another one in which Paul shows incredible range)

I don’t know that he actually uttered the words to her – probably not. But I have read that it was the inspiration for the line, “you were above me, but not today”.
