Hi there,
So I’ve got something I think a few people may be interested in, but first a little background.
Born and raised in Liverpool (actually grew up with Penny Lane in sight from my bedroom window), huge Beatles fan. I’m now an estate agent.
I’m currently working in Woolton Village at an agency called Whitegates. A client calls up, very nice chap, and we begin talking about the property he’s been left. Unfortunately, his father passed away some time last year, and my client inherited the house. He starts describing the property, and later I ask for the address. It’s 120a Allerton Road. Instantly my ears prick up… “Isn’t that something to do with the Beatles..? Didn’t John Lennon live there at some point?” I ask… Well, yes. Turns out he did.
After some digging, it seems John lived there when he was a baby with Julia . The house in question is called the Dairy Cottages. As some of you may know, Mimi’s husband, George, owned two dairy farms along with a shop. George’s brother, Robert, owned 120a Allerton Road. After John later moved in with Mimi, his sisters supposedly continued to live there. Also, I have a feeling that the other dairy farm along with the shop is on Berrington Avenue, namely number 2 & 4. I’ve been in there, they still have the coach house with the original wooden beams along with the ring that the cows used to be tied up to…
Anyway, this house is now coming to market. So as you can imagine I am overjoyed. But a little sad that I have to sell it.
I’m currently not in a position to purchase it, but I would like it to go to somebody who appreciates it’s history and value.
And if none of you are, well it’s a cool little piece of background info!
Thanks guys!
