That’s great to hear, Paul is an excellent bassist and can even liven the song up with bass in songs like Nowhere Man and Something , 2 of my favorite Paul basslines. Does your friend play upright bass, electric bass, or both, i’m curious.
Sorry, I totally forgot to answer your question!
She plays both (though electric bass slightly more) but only jazz at the moment. (Nowhere Man has a fabulous bassline, I agree)

I think most of the prejudice against The Beatles (online particularly) is down to an unfortunate ignorance of the band. One of my friends was convinced they were overrated, but it turned out he only really knew the Beatlemania era hits. I picked a few select hard rock style tracks to show him that they weren’t just bubblegum (I Want You SSH, Yer Blues , And Your Bird) as well as some psychedelic (Lucy, Walrus, TNK) as well as the Abbey Road medley and now while he’s not a big fan (he’s more into electronic) he doesn’t believe they are overrated.

He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

That’s completely true, I think most people just think of songs like I Want To Hold Your Hand , Blackbird and Let It Be when they think of the Beatles. There’s nothing wrong with that, but they shouldn’t judge them based on a handful of their poppier and more well known songs. It’s just like anything in life, I don’t think you should judge something until you’ve given it the time of day.

The fact that Beatles songs are behind a paywall doesn’t help things.

If there are 2 bands that are thought of as overrated because of their hits, it’s The Beatles and Queen. The Beatles have albums filled to the brim with excellent tracks but if the only Beatles songs you’ve ever heard in your life are She Loves You , I Want To Hold Your Hand , A Hard Day’s Night , Can’t Buy Me Love , Help !, Yesterday , Yellow Submarine , All You Need Is Love , Hey Jude , Come Together , and Let It Be , you might think of them as some pop sellout but those people need to hear some of their albums in their entirety, preferably Revolver onwards.
Same with Queen, most put them out to be some old no good pop/rock band because all they’ve heard is Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, You’re My Best Friend, Somebody To Love, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and Another One Bites The Dust, have them listen to A Night At The Opera and they’ll feel differently.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I disagree about Queen. I actually haven’t heard some of the hits you named, but I formed my taste after listening to A Night At The Opera and not liking it. It just sounds weird to me.

Hopefully i’m not derailing this thread too much but have you listened to any of their other albums, albums 1 and 2 have a different feel from 3-5, which have a different feel from 6-7, which have a different feel from 8, which has a different feel from 9, and so on, A Night At The Opera is 4.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

No I haven’t. Maybe I’ll give another album a listen. I’ve heard A Day At The Races is pretty good, but I’m not a huge fan of Queen’s sound.

There are some very good deep cuts from the Queen album, however, there is also so much unlistenable tripe. I’ll also throw in that ‘Greatest Hits II’ is very hit or miss whereas ‘Greatest Hits III’ is an embarrassment of solo drivel and atrocious Queen+ that should never have been highlighted; no one wants to hear or be made to suffer the Wyclef Jean remix of ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ or Elton John sing lead on ‘The Show Must Go On’.
ABBA are definitely overrated due to ‘Gold’, their Greatest Hits retrospective. Ask anyone to name an ABBA song and it will almost certainly be on ‘Gold’, if not it will be on ‘More Gold’.

Some of my favourite ABBA songs not on Gold: Ring Ring, Another Town Another Train, Man in the Middle, Under Attack, The Day Before You Came, and Eagle, just to name a few.
Note: ABBA was once my favourite band… I have many favourites from them.

Ring Ring, Under Attack, The Day Before You Came, and Eagle are all on More Gold but you named two which is 2 more than 99.9% of all Abba fans.

Oops, I only just saw ‘More Gold’. Sorry!
Hey, Hey, Helen must be one of my, if not my absolute, favourite songs by ABBA. That’s not on More Gold, I’m sure.
Gee, looking though their discography again… I need to go back and listen to a good number of their songs!
We should probably

So today in physics, a girl asked me ‘do you know what the best song in the world is?’ To which my response was ‘Well, we all have our own opinions…’
She replied with Norwegian Wood …
After some discussion, she revealed she doesn’t like too many Beatles songs, however she likes 1 or 2 from most of their albums. She then said she really likes When I’m 64 and Eleanor Rigby as well, so I got her to listen to For No One (which as it turns out she said ‘Oh this song! Yeah I love this one too’), and then I suggested Lovely Rita , to which she listened to and really, really loved, to the stage where she added it to her playlist…
The Hole Got Happy
Side note: I wasn’t grasping the physics concepts and should really have done work and asked the teacher questions, however…
Beatles reign superior

And now it seems that [my wizard-friend] has been giving himself a tour of George Harrison ‘s works, largely due to my inadvertent influence.I felt so proud when he informed me of such.
Today, him… Tomorrow, the world!
He’s since introduced himself to a large amount of Pink Floyd and Muse due to my (somewhat more overt) influence, and since the Beatles were finally brought to the light of YouTube, I do believe…
*drumroll*

I am pleased to report that my broadway friend has initiated a Beatley conversation with me. Apparently her aunt brought them up and my broadway friend brought me up and they had a discussion, leading said broadway friend to text me about it. We talked about how John was cool, Ringo played the drums, Paul’s name is James, but most importantly, how beautiful Rocky is. We plan to kidnap him.

I’d have to start with a song that I think would be simple and easy to listen to. Then get into more of the songs that really show off their ability to write. Also all the songs would be diverse to show the range they had. So here’s my 3.\
