So my friend knows a decent amount of the Beatles’ music, and can play a few of their songs on her guitar. I recently got her to watch their movies. She watched A Hard Day’s Night last night, and wants to watch Help tonight. She said that she thought AHDN was very “cute and funny”.

I made a thread like it here.
Thanks @Mr. Kite! Are you still around? I came back…
I burnt a CD with “my” anthology of The Beatles for my daughter when she was fifteen; until then she’d been listening to Miley Cyrus and “stuff like that”. Soon we were playing Help on the guitar together. Now she’s twenty but doesn’t listen to the lads anymore.

My friend, @Oudis! Glad to see you back! I’ve been wondering when you might pop in. I’m around less but still make the occasional appearance. Will be on more again as soon as my life allows it.
Now since I’m on this thread, I have shared lots of good music with my friend. He now has a greater respect for The Beatles, but of the bands I’ve exposed him to (coincidentally enough with the reappearance of Oudis on this particular thread) he really loves The Police!

It’s great to hear from you @Mr. Kite! I’ve missed being here and interacting with the gang. Hope you can pop in more and more. And, well… the only songwriter I like as much as the Lennon-McCartney team is Gordon Matthew Sumner… so your friend has good taste…

I remember one time, I was talking with my friend and I decided to show her the Beatles. She didn’t have much of an opinion, but she still thinks that I Am The Walrus was written when John was really high.
Even though I tend to talk about the Beatles around my friends, I don’t think any of them actually care enough to listen to them. And by all means, I find that totally okay. You don’t have to like something because someone you know likes it a lot

None of my friends are into the Beatles, although a few of them know quite a bit about them, as they’re just interested in music in general, like me. I’ve tried to play it around a few of my best friends though, to no avail. My whole family loves the Beatles though.
And I won’t try anymore. I’m not going to shove music down to people’s throats and if they don’t see the Beatles as one of the greatest bands ever, then that’s their loss.

I used to try and turn everyone on. Now I only do it if they express a predisposition (i.e. ‘What are some of your favourite albums? do you have any recommendations for me? etc.)
In other words, I wait eagerly until someone asks, and then brainwash them as hard as I can.

I haven’t posted in a while because my computer is a little weird but I’ve got to tell you about this: I accidentally turned one of my friends into the Beatles. We were on a trip and I brought a John Lennon picture book, this one guy sat down beside me and commented on each picture. Finally he asked what album he should listen to so I said the White Album , because it is my favorite. He seems to like it a lot. Next up is Abbey Road .

Oh dear, I thought of the wrong kind of trip all together (think Doctor Robert ).
I guess it was a combination of ‘turned on’ in the previous sentence and way too much Sixties-jargon exposure.

When I first became a Beatles fan I talked about them all the time and I was always playing Beatles Rock Band when I was home. It was probably super annoying for my family, but I actually turned my mom and brother onto The Beatles.
My brother recently told me that he may have gotten me into more bands then I’ve gotten him into, but I got him into The Beatles so I win.
Nowadays I really try not to talk about The Beatles because once I start I don’t know when to stop, and I don’t like doing that to people because frankly they don’t care.

I’ve been plying my friend with my favourite albums, in return for dutifully listening to the albums he recommends in return (it’s all his fault I’m into Muse now), and after giving him the Pink Floyd tour I started him on Beatles and solo. First was NEW; since then it’s been Revolver , Rubber Soul , All Things Must Pass , A Hard Day’s Night , Brainwashed, and finally Abbey Road. This last one he really enjoyed, giving it the ‘absurdly impractical rating’ of 19 out of 22.5 stars, and declaring all its hype to be well-founded. (I kind of figured it’d get a good response. It’s good.)
When I informed him that none of the Beatles or the Floyd knew how to read music, he was greatly taken aback; most people are, I find — particularly non-musical folk, because they think that making music equals some form of reading or writing it down. In his case, I believe he composes the old-fashioned way, with notes on staves and all the rest of that rubbish, so his surprise surprises me less than it might otherwise. (I am personally more drawn to the less sophisticated method of bashing a thing out on a guitar or piano, scribbling the lyrics on a bit of gently used paper napkin, and remembering the tune.)
Anyway, his progress is coming along nicely, though after the opus magnum that is Abbey Road , I’m rather at a loss on what to foist upon him next.
Any suggestions?

And now it seems that one of my other friends has been giving himself a tour of George Harrison ‘s works, largely due to my inadvertent influence.
I felt so proud when he informed me of such.
