^ and ^^ OK – now I’m getting really worried. Maybe I should buy that other one, you know, Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins , so I can understand the ‘sequels’ better. Wait a sec, why is there a brown paper bag on the cover??

Yeah the first.
Erm, if i were you i wouldn’t take the album out in public or you might find yourself in the cells for being in possession of adult material. And i doubt your plea of musical grounds will be accepted after they hear it.
If you get it sent in the post you might get some strange looks from the local Post Office workers (yeah like they don’t scan what we get sent – hello to those looking for secret codes and messages: the blue bear is in the night garden with the second hand clock pointing at the third hand)).

I’m really good with this. I only buy stuff directly from shops. Nothing via the internet. Also, I’m not a person who goes completely berzerk when she sees anything Beatles related. I’m pretty matter of fact (wtf isn’t there a proper english word for the word I want to use) so I’m not a person to buy Beatles pens or stuff like that

Just to toss a few possible words out there: selective, discriminating, discerning, judicious

^^^ Funny thing is, I think I am actually starting to understand, and maybe even appreciate, what they were doing with all those crazy CDs. Not enjoy them mind you.
I think they have also given me some appreciation of that McLuhan thing about ‘the medium being the message’ which I previously thought was circular reductionist nonsense. The packaging for the CDs (photos on #2, physical ‘stuff’ in the Wedding box) really do make it an A/V ‘experience’ – so you can feel along with John & Yoko what they were going through. They are almost accompanying claptrap for the Ballad of John & Yoko.
Maybe I just need someone to book me an appointment with a therapist
Erm, going off topic again aren’t I? Back to the topic; I agree Linde – and I have set myself the bounds of CDs and books.

With the amount of Beatles merchandise out there (official and unlicensed) i find it difficult to get excited about all the towels, trinkets and tat that is available to purchase to the point of the last piece of merchandise i bought was a super-size mug a few years back. Its what happens when the market gets over saturated and so much is put out that is pointless. Well done Apple.
And aside from actual Beatles albums i have a price limit for cds that i very rarely go over (I got Paul’s latest album half price thru Tesco Clubcard vouchers) and i don’t pay full-price for books ever: shop around and you will find them discounted somewhere. I did buy the Love Me Do anniversary single last year tho: its cool to have i suppose but ultimately its pretty superfluous.

I’ve got that super-size mug too. Got it for my Birthday last year.
Yeah for me it’s just t-shirts, posters and books. I don’t even buy CDs. The only bought album we have is 1. We also have some stuff on vinyl. But I don’t have a decent cd-player in my room and I don’t often sit in the livingroom AND I have a laptop. What would I need CDs for? I can download them.

You might need CDs for the fact that .mp3s sound like %$#%! Plus laptop speakers are %^&$%^.
Not being rude, but playing the music from a decent source on a good set of speakers is a revelation in itself.

Me too! I can’t stop buying….
I started by buying an album on each payday (every 2 weeks). I’ve almost got them all now…still a few to go. In the past 2 months I have purchased two Beatles t-shirts, a set of 4 glasses (tumblers), a Beatles fleece blanket, “Tune In” book, “Fifth Beatle” deluxe graphic novel & “Dakota Days”. I work hard for my money and I usually don’t spend on myself…so there is my justification!

That sounds perfectly reasonable…or maybe we can’t stop because we suffer from a bad case of Beatlemania!

^ and ^^ Hmm – sounds ominous – it has John’s name on it, I’m sure it will be great (like that Wedding Album I still haven’t got around to yet) ……
It’s “better” than the Wedding Album (and much better than “Two Virgins “), but I still only play my copy about once a year!
Purchase-wise, I’m like AppleScruffJr: If I can’t listen to it, watch it on my TV or read it, I’m not gonna be buying it. And if it’s a readable I can find at my local library I probably won’t buy it either. Got better things to spend my scant resources on, mainly food and rent and drugs (like my blood pressure medication CAN’T YOU TELL?!)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I just got Pussy Cats in the mail – which is tangentially Beatles stuff. Only two Wings CDs left in the mail from the ‘first phase’ (Wild Life and Speed of Sound), then, when the plastic recovers, we move into the seriously trivial purchases

I have a strict rule for myself with buying Beatley things:CDs, DVDs, Vinyl, Books, Films, Documentaries= Can buy, I get something out of it
Mugs, figurines, towels, oven gloves, posters, calendars etc. etc. = No buy, I get enjoyment out of it when I first buy it but after all it is just a useless item with The Beatles logo on it and as my mother says “You’re just letting Paul buy another mansion Katie”
If I didn’t follow those rulee ^ I’d be broke by now
I don’t have those exact rules, but I am pretty strict on myself about Beatle spending or any spending for that matter or else I would be broke probably. Well that and I don’t see the point in owning such things like a Beatle towel or toothbrush.
Ahhh Girl told me to come to this thread to ask: Do any of you own any Beatle Christmas decorations? If you don’t, would you?
