(note: meanmistermustard merged the thread ‘Grapefruit T-shirt’ with this one on the 15th July 2014, the complete conversation in that thread can be read in posts 72 -> 75.)

I think I have an addiction.  I won’t list everything I’ve bought, but I seriously cannot stop.  Clothing, books, albums, DVD’s, buttons (badges), mugs, figurines…it goes on and on.  Oh look, I have some money.  Let me buy something Beatles related!

I go to the grocery store…Oh look at that neat Beatles thing, I must add it to the cart.

I’m browsing on Amazon…Oh, there goes another 60 dollars!

Can anyone relate to my “problem”?

Did you discuss these purchses with your other half?  ;-)

I have a strict rule for myself with buying Beatley things:

CDs, DVDs, Vinyl, Books, Films, Documentaries= Can buy, I get something out of it

Mugs, figurines, towels, oven gloves, posters, calendars etc. etc. = No buy, I get enjoyment out of it when I first buy it but after all it is just a useless item with The Beatles logo on it and as my mother says “You’re just letting Paul buy another mansion Katie” a-hard-days-night-george-10

If I didn’t follow those rulee ^ I’d be broke by now

Umm – if you don’t say anything then I won’t :)

Actually, we each have our own credit card with a small(ish) limit to buy this sort of stuff.  Hopefully my purchases will slow down now that I have most of the ‘core’ CDs and films – hopefully …..

Oh – and I tried to bribe the postman only to deliver the stuff when her car was not in the driveway but he was having none of it!

The leather dress should cover a multitude of sins. BTW, don’t let her wear that dress to a McCartney concert a-hard-days-night-george-4

i DID manage to trade the dress purchase off for the last 5 Paulie CDs I needed – now I just need a good excuse for the purchases since then :)

I would have gotten away with it, well maybe, if I had been more ruthless and put all the packaging in the rubbish bin instead of the recycling box.  That’s what comes of being an environmentally-conscious child of the 60s :)

That dress needs some new shoes to go with it. Or some nice jewelry. Or a scarf. Just trying to help you out, sir.

^ Oh, don’t say shoes – I can’t move in our bedroom because of boxes stacked with shoes.

That’s a good philosophy.  For the most part I follow that too, but some things (like the Funko Beatles figures) are just too adorable to pass up, and I also love shirts and hoodies.  And I like having a Beatles calendar on the wall above my computer.

I have a similar rule, Katie (except I don’t buy vinyl, as I haven’t had a record player in years) to keep from going broke. And if it’s available at the library, I haven’t yet bothered to buy. And if I buy, I buy used (Paul’s latest albums excepted).

OK – I took the advice.  Today it was Unfinished Music No. 2: Life With The Lions – I’m sure it’s a great Rock ‘N’ Roll album :)
