I’ve wanted to make a general hypothetical/what if thread for a while now so here it is.
I’ll start off with the first hypothetical question.
How would things have been different if they met with the first lady in the Philippines?

Train A, carrying John Lennon , traveling 70 miles per hour (mph), leaves Westford heading toward Eastford, 260 miles away. At the same time Train B, carrying Paul McCartney and traveling 60 mph, leaves Eastford heading toward Westford. When do the two trains meet? How far from each city do they meet? Show your work.

They might’ve been successful, but nowhere near as successful.
In my worthless opinion, I think that Pete Best would have quit eventually if they’d never fired him. That could be a hypothetical question in and of itself.

A Hard Day’s Night and Tomorrow Never Knows would have different names.
A Hard Day’s Nights might not even exist.

What do you think would’ve happened if George quit the band and was replaced with Keith Richards during the Help ! sessions.
Maybe you should try posting more.

It’s hard to imagine because their styles are so different. George’s riffs and solos are heavily rockabilly-influenced with Carl Perkins and Chet Atkins as prominent inspiration, his leads are meticulously crafted, his sound generally very clean. Keith is more directly blues-influenced, with Chuck Berry as a primary forbearer. His leads are dirtier and feel more improvisational. At that point in the Beatles career, Keith would have had to adopt a more folk-rock sort of sound OR the Beatles would have to have changed direction.
Also, Brian Epstein almost certainly would have had an aneurysm.

A Filipina acquaintance told me the details. First Lady Imelda Marcos invited the Beatles to lunch; for some reason, they failed to attend. Imelda and her husband Ferdinand felt insulted so President Marcos decided not to give the Beatles any protection or transportation, and they had to wing it by taxi to get back to the airport where a throng of local Filipinos gathered to “throw tomatoes” at the Beatles.
Still, it would be a nice gesture if Paul would arrange a concert there to mend old wounds…

A concert for Beatles fans of the Phillipines is a nice idea at any time, but there’s no call to frame it as a method of mending “old wounds” supposedly received by the long-vanquished military dictatorship

Well I don’t know how representative this Filipina’s impressions are among Filipinos in general, but she thinks The Beatles “hated the Philippines” (and the two surviving Beatles still do). Given how Paul has toured practically every country on the map on tours that have gone on for literally decades, it’s odd he’s avoided the Philippines.

The Beatles tended to dislike the dignitaries and all the ceremony, mainly as many who attended were arrogant and unpleasant people who thought they were better than the foursome. Wasn’t it also their morning off and therefore they weren’t told or just ignored it? Their arrival and everything else which went on beforehand I doubt helped never mind Imelda and how they left the country.
Would you go back after such an experience? I wouldn’t.
