Well this friend of mine still doesn’t really like the Beatles but at least she now knows why I start singing when she recites what she did yesterday or why i ask her “wont you please, please help me!?” when i want her help. My brother on the other hand LOVES the Beatles! One morning he crawled into my bed and he told me he really wanted to watch a movie. I said I would if i could pick which one, so i showed him yellow submarine and had to translate everything to swedish but he liked it. I later showed him HELP! and played through all the albums. He always asks me to put on their music and he really likes it even though he has no clue of what they’re singing about. He has a hard time of keeping track of who is alive and every time I tell him John is dead he gets super sad because that’s his favourite.

More ‘Beat Bugs’ news, this time from the BBC’s ‘Music News Live‘ page (time 09:47)
Beatles TV show adds more big names
Even more big names have been announced for the Netflix animated series Beat Bugs that creates stories around songs by The Beatles.
The show which premieres on 3 August had already announced performances from Sia, Eddie Vedder, P!nk, James Bay, The Shins, Of Monsters and Men, Chris Cornell, Regina Spektor and James Corden – who is singing I’m A Loser incidentally.
Now it’s been announced Rod Stewart, Jennifer Hudson, Aloe Blacc, Robbie Williams, Frances, The Lumineers and Tori Kelly will also be performing covers.
Highlights of season one include Pink’s cover of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , Robbie Williams sings Good Day Sunshine and Eddie Vedder singing Magical Mystery Tour .
Rod Stewart’s cover of Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band will appear in the second season along with Jennifer Hudson performing I’ll Follow The Sun and Regina Spektor with And Your Bird Can Sing .
I don’t mind either of those two covers; maybe there is a little more liberty due to it being a kids cartoon, maybe their actually decent.

Here’s a cute story about a man wondering why he couldn’t feel his baby kick or move in his wife’s belly. http://www.recordonline.com/ne…..babys-kick
One of his theories of why he couldn’t:
Then there’s a third theory, which is still materializing. I’m the guy who, throughout the pregnancy, has brought a speaker to Sarah’s belly with Stevie Wonder, the Beatles and Paul Simon’s “Graceland” album, the official album of our Saturday mornings. One night, while Sarah was sleeping and definitely didn’t know it, I put my iPad up to her belly and hit play. The baby could’ve been sleeping, and I could’ve woken it up with the sounds of Paul McCartney ’s “Band On The Run ” album.
Maybe the baby knows I’m the guy who bothers it with classic pop and rock music. Maybe the baby will be like its mother and jam out to the Dixie Chicks and the official cast recording of “An American in Paris.” That would be great, honestly, but please, baby, at least understand that McCartney’s “No Words” exemplifies his gift for tight, melodic pop songs in the Baroque style. Please.
He does eventually feel the baby move.

One of the first things I said to my baby sister the day I met her was that she was going to be a Paul fan like me, but I’ve actually never even tried to introduced her to the perfection of The Beatles. Like she’s already five years old and can tell you that my favorite animal is the pig and that I really love Converse, but she doesn’t even know who Paul McCartney is. Like I bought her a Beatles onsie for her wayyyy backk when she was just a fetus, but now she’s five and doesn’t even know who they are. It makes me so sad. I tried playing Revolver for her one day, but she wasn’t digging it (legit if I’m not playing with her then she’s hella whining). I don’t want to shove them down her throat, either, because that could cause her to hate them by act of recalcitrance (if she’s anything like me).

Revolver isn’t something a kid would like for their first Beatles’ album, it’s too “weird”. Have you tried watching Yellow Submarine with her? If she likes that maybe you could have a look at Help ! (colour films are always best for their first introduction), and if she likes that put on A Hard Day’s Night . You can play the respective albums for each film in the car or while you’re hanging out, and she might get to like them more.

Well, yeah I said Revolver , but really, I only played Yellow Submarine . She didn’t seem very amused. I only see her every couple weeks, though, too, so I’m not even sure that she can even enjoy music around me because she’s too excited to have me to play with. She never wants to watch a movie with me or listen to music. She only ever wants to play. Also, I left my Yellow Submarine movie in a rental car by accident a couple years ago soooooo I don’t even have that to watch (sobbing emoji x 370 bc I’m still very sad about the lack of that movie in my life over the past two years).

Was astonished yesterday to find that little Katie (who I mentioned previously in this thread and is now eight) learned about the Beatles in school! She was looking at a messily-inscribed CDR of mine and asked what the writing said, and when I told her “Beatles Mashup” she recognized the name, and that a teacher told her there four of them and two were dead; that the one named John Something was shot, and another one got cancer and there were only two left and one of them was named Ringo. And of course she knew Yellow Submarine …anyway, I was astonished.

My sons are aged 4 and 6 and they love The Beatles 🙂 My eldest loves to work out who is singing on songs (but gets really cross if he gets it wrong!) His favourite song is Love Me Do but they both love Yellow Submarine as well 🙂 My youngest got a toy guitar on his birthday and he says he’s going to be a rock star. I lived in Liverpool for a good few years so I’ve shown my eldest photos of where I used to live and where The Beatles grew up. His favourite is Ringo, but he always calls him Richard because “that’s his proper name”

Hey @Hippymama – my kids are the same age as yours (a boy and a girl). My son particularly loves the Beatles – Help ! is one of his favourite films. It warms my heart when I come in and see him watching it. If your kids haven’t yet seen that I do recommend it.
Also, if you don’t know it, I also recommend The Point by Harry Nilsson. It’s quite Yellow Submarine in places. Ringo narrates the film (though there’s also a Dustin Hoffman version). The album (which doesn’t feature RS) is even better – shorter (dare I say, to the point?), and great for car journeys.

I haven’t seen Help myself for a long time, so itwould be good to watch that with my kids. The eldest likes watching clips on Youtube. Twist And Shout is one of his favourites because he says John goes wild I haven’t seen The Point so we will have to look that up. It’s a long time since I’ve seen Yellow Submarine as well! I went to the Garden Festival as a child and the main thing I remember about it was the Yellow Submarine model. In my memories it was HUGE! Mind you, I would have only been about 4 so it would have seemed much bigger to me. My other memory of that day was meeting Worzel Gummidge and him telling me I had a pretty dress!
