I never had any luck getting my daughters into the Beatles. My eldest daughter really liked the LOVE show in Vegas and listens to the soundtrack (without Fab context) quite often. My younger daughter only knows this song as featured in the movie Parent Trap. When she and her friend visited London, it was this scene they were recreating at the crossing (not the album cover).
My brother was a little more successful with my nephew. He listened to the entire catalog in one sitting (about 14 hours if I remember). He thought the early stuff sounded too old fashioned for his taste (like I think of some Elvis songs), but has loved the 66-69 Beatles ever since. He can play an amazing version of Blackbird on his guitar.

I showed this post to my daughter and she suggested I should create a topic called “Getting your parents into Taylor Swift”. A few years back we drove somewhere for about 10 hours and she played me the entire Taylor discography. So I was primed for Folklore during lockdown, which became my first 100 listen album of the decade.

I have Taylor’s catalogue on my phone so a lot come us randomly. It’s surprisingly good, and that’s coming from someone who gave up on modern music about 27 years ago.

Generally speaking, something I love about The Beatles is how they embody the fun of youth, even when the members got older. They exude humour and creativity, which are two things I’m always seeking to project.

Taylor has some great songs in her discography and shares the same birthday as me.

It’s surprising how many of her songs I feel I know despite not having intentionally listened to much of her music. A sign of a very respected influential artist.
I also have Katy Perry’s catalogue as I liked a few tracks and thought why not. Some good tracks in there too.

I have always enjoyed Katy and her songs. I loved Paul and Katy’s appearance on the Graham Norton Show.
It’s cool that Katy mentioned Ram On as one of her favourite songs and that Paul and Beatrice loved Firework.
