I don’t have any children yet,but I got my friend’s son into the Beatles a few years ago now. He loved to do jigsaw puzzles (old school I know ) so I bought him a Beatles one for his birthday from a shop at the Albert Dock. It was an Abbey Road one. I went round to give it to him,and we listened to Abbey Road while we were doing the puzzle. He was dancing around the living room to Octopus’s Garden . He still loves the Beatles. He’s 8 now

The Beatles force is strong in this one. I want Joshua to start an account on this forum. The video should start where the Beatles enter into the conversation.

Now-9-year-old Katie’s knowledge continues to expand, as demonstrated earlier this month when introducing her to Scrabble:
Katie: What are “H-I-P-P-I-E-S”?
Uncle VB: Well…they’re people who lived a long time ago…I guess they’re still around…
Vonbrother-in-law: They believed in peace, and love, and hated war…
Uncle VB: Yeah! And they liked to wear beads and dress up in real colourful clothes.
Katie: (suddenly alert) Oh!…Were the Beatles hippies?
Impressed Uncle VB: …yes! Pretty much…

My neighbors have four kids that my brother and I hang around with a lot. I have taken on the responsibility of introducing them to the Beatles, and they can actually name one of their songs now, so that’s progress I guess! The only downside is that the song is Revolution 9 … Sadly they don’t seem to have much interest, but they know how much I love the Beatles and so they tolerate them for me… which is something, I guess. Maybe one day their brilliance will sink in purely from exposure.
So far I have played them the following songs:
Revolution 9 : I have played this for them a lot. They think it’s hilarious.
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer : They don’t like it
Run For Your Life : They like it! Success!
Yellow Submarine : They got bored within a few bars.
Flying : They’re neutral.
Hey Jude : Neutral.
Across The Universe : Neutral.
The Fool On The Hill : They find it mildly amusing but they don’t really care.
Golden Slumbers : They won’t listen for more than a few seconds.
Octopus’s Garden : They don’t like it
Can’t Buy Me Love : They like it, but passively.
Baby You’re A Rich Man : They think it’s weird. That’s the point kids.
I Am The Walrus : They think this one is weird too, but in a good way.
Their taste seems to be very different than mine (how could they not like Hey Jude ?!? How?) but I’ll get to them someday…

When I was a kid, my father listened to The Beatles a lot, and I heard it and liked it. I think the first song I ever heard by them that I can remember was when I turned 4, and my dad played the song Birthday . I remember liking it very much. My dad would always play Beatles music in the car on road trips. I think it was when I was 9, I downloaded my first Beatles album: Abbey Road . I would listen to it the whole way through every day because I love it so much.
Nowadays, I’m a huge fan and love all their music! I have introduced a friend my age to The Beatles and she likes it, too.

I, too, was raised on the Beatles. I’m told we used to listen to an album of Beatles covers on the way to preschool every day, and on road trips my brother and I watched all the Beatles movies. My dad would always tell me a bit about a song before he played it; I was probably the only 5 year old in the state who could tell you that Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds was based on a drawing by Julian Lennon. Recently I’ve gotten much more into the Beatles solo stuff, and I’ve had many experiences where I listen to a song I can’t ever remember hearing, and I instantly recognize it because my dad played it when I was a kid and I haven’t heard it in . several years, so I’ve sort of forgotten it, but it all comes back when I hear the song. I was quite passive about the Beatles all through middle school, and it was only last year that we discovered the Beatles Channel and my love was reawakened, stronger than it has ever been.

@50yearslate I noticed you haven’t played them any songs from Sgt. Pepper , this is the perfect opportunity to have them listen to the entire album from start to finish.

They’d never put up with it for that long they would probably call all the songs “weird” and my heart would be irreparably broken
But thanks for the suggestion

Update: the aforementioned neighbor children, my brother, and I just had a massive pillow fight while Revolution 9 played in the background. Eventually they demanded I turn it off, and I took @Dark Overlord ‘s suggestion and played Sgt Pepper . They didn’t seem to mind, but when I asked if they liked it, they said no. We made it to Fixing A Hole before they ran off for cookies.

LOL at this!
Visited Katie again over the holidays, and she took in interest in all of the Beatles stuff on display inside her neighbour’s house during the visit I wrote about recently.
I’m still not sure whether she actually knows any actual Beatles songs apart from “Yellow Submarine “. But she enjoys music, and loooves videogames…maybe Uncle Vonbontee should buy her the Beatles Guitar Hero game for a 10th birthday gift…!

Admittedly not my kids, but the 3 children I regularly babysit are now all Beatles fans! I played a game with them where they pointed at a different instrument on a poster of different instruments they had, and then I would find a song that included said instrument so they could hear what it sounded like. For acoustic, electric and bass, I chose Blackbird , Hey Bulldog and Drive My Car respectively.
They’re also now Velvet Underground fans, having seen the banana album in my room and enjoying Sunday Morning upon me playing it for them.

But, in the two years since I became a father, I’ve changed my tune. “Instant Karma ” is out. “Silly Love Songs” is in.
But Paul wanted to make people happy in a way that John didn’t, which is why I’m a Paul guy now and why my daughter will grow up in a Paul household.
but I do know something essential about Paul McCartney : his music, even when it’s not his best, always favors positive vibes over negative ones.
Outside of the Beatles, Paul McCartney ’s music, is, for the most part, full-on, unfiltered happiness.
My daughter likes all the Beatles records, but she’s able to listen to an entire side of Wings album all the way through, which is wild given that she has the attention span of a person her age. Part of this, I attribute to Paul’s consistency — the music isn’t going to lose her — but mostly I think it’s because Paul seems happy. Sellout or not, he’s producing a product that kids might want to buy. It’s an aural Happy Meal.
Paul McCartney is perhaps the only example of someone who celebrated these exact same things [being happy being a dad and husband] in his music. Paul’s songs are basic and happy, like me. This may not have been the outcome I thought I wanted when I was younger, but I’m far from ambivalent about it now. I’m a Paul guy and I couldn’t be more pleased with that result.
