I have had an idea for a new Beatles game – involving knowledge and tactics.
We have more than one Beatles trivia games, and only the jokey Even Easier is played.
Part of the reason I think is the lack of competition in them.
I have this idea of a race.
A half dozen or so forum members on the start line.
Each can choose to answer a question that is either easy, medium, or hard… each player getting different questions… an easy question got right moves the player forward a space, while (after leaving the start line) a wrong answer moves the player back a space… a medium question 2… and a hard question 3…
There will be 9 rounds… at the end of 9 rounds, whoever has moved the most spaces wins the game and can set the questions for the following game (though we may also be able to build up a set of questions that people running games can choose from should they wish)…
Be interested on thoughts…

Sounds fun, a board game of sorts. I’m a little confused as to the questioning part.
From what I understood, there would need to be a mod for each game (different mod each time I suppose) and the mod would have to find/come up with questions (a lot of questions) for one round. Then the next mod would have to do the same, and so forth.
This list of questions, if one is made, would have to be one that the mods know all the answers to, since the answers to said questions couldn’t be avaliable for the player’s uses.
Dunno, sounds cool if it can be worked out properly.
I am you as you are you as you are you and you are all together.

Sounds like a great idea and I am glad to play it, I was originally thinking about making a thread where we try to stump you due to your advance knowledge on many things, but I like this a lot better, although I think there should be themes for each round, such as Billy Preston, Personnel on a specific song, Revolver , etc., I think it could work out great and since luckily for me the only 2 people on this forum with more knowledge about specific details about The Beatles is you and Joe, I am bound to win this game. As a celebratory thank you, here’s a colorized picture of your avatar.

I think you’re underestimating a lot of people on this forum.

As do I. The idea behind this game was that the other trivia aren’t really played because they lack the competition element of the Even Easier, where people have the competition of being funnier than the last humorous reply.
No problem with someone theming their turn at the helm at the game, but that would be up to the person running that game.
Easy, medium and hard questions would have to be just that. For instance, somebody could not give as an easy question, “Which guitar did George play on Tomorrow Never Knows , if you think he did?” but “What was the first song recorded for Revolver ?” would be fine.
I am not thinking of there needing to be a mod policing each game. After running the first game, I would be happy to sit back as referee, and have people PM questions to me, then – if someone needed help with questions – have them PM me to either offer suggestions or help with factchecking.
There are also plenty of quiz question sites online where people could also source questions…
I just want to make sure, that should we try, nobody feels unable to play because they’re unsure of being able to come up with questions… Help can always be given by those not playing that round of the game if someone gets stuck for a question….

A real fan doesn’t need to google a question, he can think of one off the top of his head. Also, sorry for outsmarting you on your own thread, but Paul’s the only guitarist on Tomorrow Never Knows . When do we start anyways.

I used a particular question to show the type of question that would be unacceptable as an easy question, @Dark Overlord, and whether you agree or not, many sources – including this site – while agreeing Paul played lead guitar on this track, also have George playing guitar on this.

Everyone who enjoys the Beatles should be able to be called real fans. Not knowing each and every little detail of the Beatles shouldn’t make them any less of a fan.

I’m in too, it sounds like a nice idea. Though I hope the competitive character will not play a too big role (in the style of ‘you don’t know the easy question? How can you call yourself a fan?’) But since it’s Ron Nasty’s game I don’t think it will happen.

Obviously no looking up the answers as it’s the interwebby.
I’ll pass due to the amount of time I’m working but sounds good.
And let’s drop this nonsense of you’re this big a fan due to knowing this amount of stuff. I cannot give a crap what guitar George looked at before plucking a harpsichord A-string on ‘Birthday ‘ or what chord John strummed on the 7th word of ‘Help !’. Others won’t give a crap over other stuff. One isn’t better than the other.

Good luck with that rule, there’s no way to determine whether or not someone cheated and looked up the answer on Google, Wikipedia, The Beatles Bible, and or any other site that contains Beatles information. Also, I’m not saying that you don’t like The Beatles if you don’t know certain things, but I expect hardcore fans to know at least some basics, like that Ringo Starr plays drums or how Paul sings lead vocals on Hey Jude or that The Beatles are no longer a band, if you don’t know simple obvious stuff like that, you’re a casual fan. To answer meanmistermustard’s questions that I doubt he was actually expecting me to answer, the first one is not true because there is no harpsichord on Birthday and the second one is an open G chord (320033) which John strummed this chord on his 1964 Framus 5/024 Hootenanny while saying just, which just happens to be the 7th word in the song. I really want to get to the actual game.

Sounds like a cool game, RN.
Like mmm, I’ll have to pass for now due to not being on here as regularly as I used to – too much real life, so little time! Just a suggestion, for what it’s worth. Perhaps some guidelines could be set for what types of questions would be in each category. As time goes on and members get the hang of it, you could add to the types of questions in each. You could also name the categories:
Easy = Your Mother Should Know
Medium = I Should Have Known Better
Hard = Tomorrow Never Knows
I’m not stepping on your toes – you know how you would like to see this play out. In any event, it will be fun to log on and see what types of questions are being asked. Hope everyone has fun. Good luck!

I think the levels should be based off how popular a song is, something like this would be nice:
Easy = Come Together
Medium = Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Hard = When I Get Home
Expert = If You’ve Got Trouble

I hope this doesn’t sound rude or disrespectful but I’ve noticed that this thread has been dead for a week but I really want to play this game so I was wondering @Ron Nasty can I start it off, I won’t start unless I get permission from you first.

I’m in.
In my opinion the googling problem has to be a personal code of honor thing. In order to maintain this there can’t be instances of mockery after a wrong question, like “how could you get that wrong! Its in the easy category!” If people are afraid to give the honest answer from their head the game will never work.
When does solo trivia come into play? Medium?
Still some kinks to work out before the game can properly begin IMO, but it sounds awesome.
And since I know more than Ron Nasty, Joe and Paul himself combined, nobody can defeat me! Mwah hahaha!
