Organ. Anyone who uses comic books instead of sheet music has won my respect.

Comic books are way easier and more fun to read than sheet music. mccartney-shrug_01_gif

George playing sitar or John playing harmonica?

Tough one, but I’ll pick George playing sitar because it had such a wide-ranging cultural influence and was kind of groundbreaking.

Which would you rather have as an alarm: Dear Prudence or Good Morning Good Morning ?

I personally recommend the former, it’s very soft and sweet to wake up to.

Taxman , for sure. Because 1. George 2. The count-in 3. It’s a better song.

Dizzy Miss Lizzie or Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby as a closer?

Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby , because it’s mostly just funny and it doesn’t completely ruin the closure that Yesterday provides unlike Dizzy Miss Lizzy .

I’ll follow this theme. Favorite side 2 opener: Here Comes The Sun or Good Day Sunshine ?

or I guess I’ll Follow The Sun considering this line of questioninga-hard-days-night-paul-7

AHHHHHH this is difficult…I know that Here Comes The Sun is a great song but I tend to choose Good Day Sunshine because the energy just attracts me more into Side 2. Or it’s just that I’ve been fascinated by Revolver recently : )

Side 1 closers: Michelle or She Said She Said ?

Oh, I’d have to go with She Said She Said because 1) Revolver and 2) it’s the crystallised essence of Revolver .

Piano ballads: Let It Be or The Long And Winding Road ?

Hmm tis an interesting to question, do I go with the probably better song in Let it Be that I’m sort of tired of, or song that is very controversial for it’s production decisions?  I’ll go with The Long And Winding Road with the caveat that this is the anthology version which retains more simplicity than the original version, and doesn’t have the compressed sound on Naked.

Non-ballads that contain piano: Lady Madonna or Drive My Car

Ooft that’s a tough question, I’m gonna have to go for Lady Madonna because damn that piano is good with the bass guitar!

Saxophone songs: Savoy Truffle or Got To Get You Into My Life ?

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

If i had to chose between Julian and Sean’s music i would say Sean (surprising ik). Julian is talented don’t get me wrong its just there’s no change from album to album it just sounds the same. With Sean on the other hand his music is very unique. Into the Sun (Seans debut) is really good and is very unique compared to his brothers album Photograph Smile at the time. Photograph Smile is great and its my second favorite Julian album but again the only real new thing that album introduces is slide guitar which is shown on songs like “Day after Day” or “And She Cries”. Sean on the other hand has really great stuff and all unique again. Friendly Fire which is considered Seans best album and is super amazing. Sean made a whole movie with a fully fledged storyline and actors. Julian hasnt done that, Julian has made movies but for different things. Example Whaledreamers which is about an Aboriginal tribe and to spread awareness. Through the Picture Window which is a documentary Julian made talking about the time period making Everything Changes and his struggle to be John Lennon ‘s son. The reason Julian struggles in the music industry is because he shows no change and he sounds and copies John’s music heavily. Sean on the other hand doesnt struggle as much because of that unique style. And when you factor in Ghost of a Saber Toothed Tiger, or Claypool Lennon Delirium then it really factors in whos better. Dont get me wrong i love both Lennon boys equally and i completely obsess over Julian and drool over him on a daily basis. But when it comes to music i prefer listening to Seans music just for that uniqueness.

Heres my question to all of you. Music wise who do you think takes the cake when it comes to the beatle kids?

Speaking in terms of what they sought from music and how close their reality got to their dream…

1) Zak Starkey – drummer with The Who and Oasis, among others. Taught by Keith Moon, the Who sounded right again when he settled onto the drum stool. Comfortable being a respected go-to drummer. Turned down the chance to become an official member of the Who because that would’ve meant giving up Oasis. Says something about his skills that for some time both bands were working out their schedules around his availability.

=2) Sean Lennon and Dhani Harrison – both successfully making interesting and innovative music on their own terms. Neither distinctively their father’s sons musically, both seem satisfied with their careers, and are well respected.

3) Julian Lennon – has produced some great music over the years but too often in the mould of his father. He often seems dissatisfied with his lot in life. Maybe because he the first striking out on his own, he’s seemed to have carried the weight of being a Beatle child more than most.

4) James McCartney – just not very good and with none of Paul’s ease with the press.
