What Goes On , for sure, because it’s ACTUALLY A GOOD SONG *glares at @QuarryMan * (not that Don’t Pass Me By isn’t good too, but I have a STATEMENT to make here!!!)

Good matchup of two much-scorned tracks. I like both, for their eccentricities (or “flaws” ) and for the goodwill that surrounds everything Ringo. I’m gonna go with WGO for a few reasons: to annoy QuarryMan , and because I find the fumbly guitar interplay to be fascinating by itself. But also because the combo of said gnarled guitar bits and a shared songtitle always evokes the Velvet Underground, in a weird way.
Let’s hear it for backing-vocal commentary: “Hello Goodbye ” or “..Lose That Girl”?
Edit: nevermind, answer 50yearslate instead!

Ooooh they’re both so good, that’s a difficult one, but I’ll go with Polythene Pam because Pam is a hot drag king and we stan.

aAaAaAaaaAArgh that’s so haaAAaaaaAAaArd I guess I’ll pick Hello Goodbye because they’re so interwoven and compexicated rhythmically.

ABSOLUTELY You’re Going To Lose That Girl , it’s like the magnum opus of backing vocals.

Beatlebug, vonbonteeI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Till There Was You is the best Beatles cover there is. Best song on With The Beatles too. Very tough to beat, with Paul’s sweet voice and George’s magnificent guitar work.

I’d say Imagine simply because it’s much more widely known, which makes it more of “a Yesterday ,” and it also mirrors the hope in Yesterday . I personally like Julia so much because it isn’t trying to be popular or have wide appeal; it’s kind of like a gem buried in the White Album and the whole point is to discover it for yourself.

Even better than Twist And Shout ?
As for the actual question I’ll go Strawberry Fields Forever . Both are great masterpieces, but I just enjoy listening to Strawberry Fields Forever more.
I do like this peppery theme.

My ears are flawless! (My brane less so)
“Standing There” usually wins when I match it to any other track, such is the esteem I hold it in. But considering how that desperate “in media res” opening “HELP!…” is more instantly arresting than an anticipatory behind-the-scenes countoff, and how it instantly introduces the title of the song/album/film with a single syllable…on that limited basis – of the songs’ first few seconds alone, and because I dislike giving predictable answers – I say “Help !” is the better opener. (Also a better crafted song, benefiting from 2 years of songwriting practice, but we all know that…)
Xmas flexis: “Everywhere it’s Christmas” or “Christmas Time Is Here Again “?

GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Christmas Time Is Here Again because it’s random and lovely and so very Beatley.

Ooooft. A very difficult one. I adore the coda of IWY(SSH), but I think the opening section and ending of Happiness is enough to swing it that way for me.
