The next category is kind of dumb, but I can’t think of anything better.

13 times in the 1960s, only 2 or 3 Beatles appeared in public together.

No solo appearances, but at least one Beatle must be absent.  Could be something formal like a concert, film or TV show.  Or it could be something unofficial like a party or paparazzi photo.

1. John and Paul appear on Tonight Show to promote Apple.

You are all my friends.

Well, one thing attempting to find 13 songs that reference other Beatles songs proved was that it can’t be done. Myself, I’d disqualify 5 of those 13 as desperate attempts to fill the list, and find another 2 questionable, with some of them being just plain laughable. Still, an interesting exercise in finding where there isn’t a Baker’s dozen. Anyway…

This is something that has never been done in over 4000 posts in this game. I hope not to see it happen again. People here are clever enough to find sources themselves should they need to. It undermines the game, IMO.

I was interested to see if it could be done, but I’m inclined to agree with you. Still, I thought it was a better suggestion than ’13 times Paul McCartney told George what to play’ – which I thought would be too easy.

Anyway, back to the game:

5. John, Paul and Ringo appear at rehearsals for the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, with Neil filling in for an absent George.
