It’s mainly about freeing ourselves of all the rules and laws we have to follow in our society and be more relaxed and natural in many ways. To say it with Pauls words:
Why Don’t We Do It In The Road? was a primitive statement to do with sex or to do with freedom really. (Taken from Joe’s article about the song)
Sex is only an example to illustrate his point because it is a very sensitive topic in our culture.

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

6. Why Don’t We Do It In The Road? This shouldn’t count because it is about love or more specifically sex, so I say it should be disqualified, any objections.
There is no mention to the word “Love” in that song. We could also claim that “Mother Nature’s Son ” is about love for nature and so on… as far as word “love” doesn’t appear on the lyrics it is all right.

Does the author and/or lead performer of a song performing it without his former bandmates really count as a cover version?
I raise this in regard to all four of them, as this list could easily be all solo performances of Beatles songs.
I don’t really consider them as cover versions myself.
