Clever guess, AG! But it’s not that either, sadly.
OK, five guesses in. I’ll announce that Beatlebug’s guess #1 is closest so far…

Mother Nature’s Son

Maybe the lyric is from the shepherd’s point of view. So I’ll guess You Like Me Too Much (I will follow you and bring you back where you belong)

Since sheepdogs and shepherds seem to be the key to your lyric, I’m sticking with the herding theme. Did you know sheep have what’s called a go-button? This is from a college course (201) on animal husbandry:
Always move sheep slowly, calmly, and quietly. Do not allow splinter groups to develop. To move individual sheep, hold the sheep under its jaw and push its dock (“go-button”).
Hello, Goodbye has a lyric that could describe moving animals from one place to another. So lets try:
You say yes (I say yes) I say no (But I may mean no)
You say stop (I can stay) and I say go go go (Till it’s time to go)

Getting a bit far afield there, SB! (pun unintended) It’s not correct, but you’re right that shepherds/sheepdogs/sheepherding are the very theme of my one-line lyric.
Also, sorry I explained the rhyme scheme wrongly up there: My lyric is in fact the second line of the verse; and the fourth line rhymes with it to complete the verse. It also has the exact same number of syllables, and several of the same words, so it’s virtually the same sentence with different nouns/verbs…
OK, into the double digits.

Ok, that’s it! I’m quitting college!!
Taking your hint under consideration, maybe something like From Me To You ?
I got arms that long to hold you
And keep you by my side
I got lips that long to kiss you
And keep you satisfied

Afraid that’s not it either, though it does satisfy my hints.

U.C. Nothing! Welcome back to the forum after far too long, welcome and CONGRATULATIONS, that is correct! The man with the shepherd’s crook has indeed literally been “working like a dog”, performing a job that one of Martha’s ancestors or offspring could easily have been doing.
Your turn to choose the next image. Welcome back again!

Huh, no idea really, but I’ll start the ball rolling with “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds “, just because that whole track kinda sounds like it’s coated with liquefied butter…Is it indeed “Lucy?”
