Let me think, Richard Burton (hmmm) In English Lit class the Prof liked to have us listen to recorded versions of poems. The first time I heard Death Be Not Proud was on a scratchy album narrated by Burton. Nothing from the White jumps out, although the Kinfauns version of I’m So Tired uses the word “charm” in a similar way. Burton also recorded a version of Sir Walter Raleigh’s poem ‘The Passionate Man’s Pilgrimage’. So…will we be adding John Donne and Walter Raleigh to the list of rejected authors?

Unfortunately, I have to add Donne and Raleigh to the list.
No (x7):
Honey Pie
The Ballad Of John And Yoko
Baby You’re A Rich Man
I’ll Get You
Penny Lane
Savoy Truffle
I’m So Tired
Hints:
* White Album .
* Richard Burton was an avid reader, and he is pictured reading a book that may be relevant to the song I have in mind. Not written by Virginia Woolf, Dylan Thomas, Terry Southern, John Donne or Sir Walter Raleigh.
I have another hint ready if we reach 9 wrong guesses.
And in the end

I think I need to double back to an earlier guess. One of my favorite playwrights is Edward Albee, who wrote Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe. The main character’s names are George and Martha, who spend the entire movie talking to each other. So I could imagine George saying “Martha My Dear , though I spend my days in conversation”.

Great reasoning, SB, and Albee was certainly a very skilful playwright, but he also joins the list.

Our author of the day is H.G. Wells. Burton narrated the rock opera version of War Of The Worlds. I believe he recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Most of the Martian activity takes place in London, so perhaps your song is Revolution 9 (Impervious in London/Could be difficult thing).

Very good suggestion again, SB, but unfortunately H.G. Wells also goes onto the list.

I turn my attention to the writer Peter Shaffer. I don’t want to summarize his novel Equus, as it is not for the sensitive or squeamish. All I’ll say is Why Don’t We Do It In The Road is a featured plot line.

Great idea again, SB, but Shaffer also has to join the list.

If I may ask, is the movie in question on this list?
My dinner table only seats 12, so I can only entertain a few more writers.

Yes, it is.

I sense that this puzzle is probably going to be solved soon.

Looking at the spreadsheet with an eye toward literature, George Orwell jumps out. Animal Farm shares characteristics with Piggies , but can’t quite place Burton in that space. 1984 reflects on the same paranoia George expresses in While My Guitar Gently Weeps ; i.e. I don’t know how someone controlled you/I don’t know how you were diverted/I don’t know how you were inverted. So…

You got it with Piggies , @sigh butterfly. Over to you, SB.
The Beatles Bible page for Piggies notes that an additional verse was cut from the song; then reinstated by Harrison during live performances after The Beatles split up. These lyrics can be heard on Harrison’s 1992 album Live In Japan :
Everywhere there’s lots of Piggies
Playing piggy pranks
You can see them on their trotters
At the piggy banks
Paying piggy thanks
To thee Pig Brother
“Pig Brother” is a reference to the “Big Brother” theme of George Orwell’s 1984, which Harrison mentioned in his 1971 appearance on the Dick Cavett Show. I think it’s a shame this interesting verse was omitted from the White Album version.
Here are some other links about Piggies :

Wow, that one was quite a journey! I don’t think I would have got it if Orwell hadn’t written Animal Farm too. Even though he is the victor, I think I’ll still invite him to the Reject’s Dinner Party!
I don’t have an image in mind yet, so if someone else is ready please go for it!

That globe upon his shoulders is much, much bigger than his feet. “I’ll Cry Instead ?”
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

That is the song I had in mind @Richard. I can just see Zeus pointing at Atlas and proclaiming his punishment – boy, you’re going to Carry That Weight a long time. Was going to use this in that movie thread SB started.
