Yes, there’s a quote from George in 1977: “Sometimes Paul would make us do these really fruity songs. I mean, my god, ‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer’ was so fruity. After a while we did a good job on it, but when Paul got an idea or an arrangement in his head…” I’m not sure what George meant by “fruity”, but he may have meant that he found the song “crazy, silly” – definition 3 for “fruity” in the Merriam-Webster dictionary?
Also, the separated hearts in the picture are intended to be symbolic of Joan and Maxwell’s brief hint of romance (“Can I take you out to the pictures, Joa-o-o-oan?”) before Maxwell acts in a completely different manner.
