a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 On my system when I type @ a dropdown list appears and alphabetically auto-fills as I type. If I select a user name that relates to a different signup name, it auto corrects. I though everyone used this utility a-hard-days-night-ringo-14. For your song albo, maybe old fav Moonlight Bay (We were sailing along )

All Together Now – “bom bom bom, sail the ship!”

I think it's great you're going through a phase, and I'm awfully glad it'll all be over in a couple of days

Three good answers but only one winner!

Well done @richard !

It was ‘Honey Pie ‘ …

“Will the wind that blew her boat
Across the sea
Kindly send her sailing back to me”

The dropdown list only appears on PC/laptop, @sigh butterfly. If you’re posting using a phone, no dropdown list.

You’re absolutely right about the hollyhock + cuckoo bird, sb, but it’s a different song that I have in mind.

No:

(You’re So Square) Baby I Don’t Care

And in the end

The love you take is equal to the love you make

Hmmm…a-hard-days-night-paul-7. Maybe you are referring to actual hollyhocks. If so, this picture from the Mad (cuckoo) Day Out photoshoot comes to mind.

It would appear the flowers are “towering over your head”, so I’ll try Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds .

I can’t give any solid reason, but I Am The Walrus keeps coming to mind.

I like your line of reasoning, sb! ahdn_john_08_gif

I Am The Walrus is the song I have in mind, so it’s over to you, @Teddy Salad, for the next round. john-lennon-salute_gif

There’s a song called ‘English Country Garden’ by Jimmie Rogers, which was a UK No. 5 hit in 1962. Two of the things he mentions as being in an English country garden are hollyhocks and cuckoos. I expect John was familiar with this song (as it’s a kind of earworm song), and it might have influenced his thoughts when he wrote the “sitting in an English garden” lyric of I Am The Walrus .

(It may also have influenced Paul’s later song, ‘English Tea’: “Miles of miles of English garden, stretching past the willow tree / Lines of hollyhocks and roses, listen most attentively”)

That was well researched @Richard.  Thanks for the info.  I’ve never heard “English Country Garden” so it wasn’t a “conscious” guess! Anyway, this is the only one I’ve got cued up at the mo…

Dear Prudence –the sun is up, the sky is blue…

(This is based on the fact that the “slightly more correct” guesses are both on the White Album )
