If I could have one book:It would probably ‘How to Survive On A Desert Island’. If not, it would be the Bible.
I’ve got some great news for you, the Bible comes as standard so you can take another book with you. You are allowed a survival manual but you cannot use it to escape from the island.
Good song picks btw.

No worries. The survival manual will just allow me to survive and thrive in the jungle, in a minecraft sort-of way. As a believer of Christ, the Bible is like a sort of companion of mine in the bleak situation, reminding me that I’m not alone.
Sorry about the christian dialogue.

Don’t apologise, it’s a free forum post what you want.

Ahhh, a survival manual, that’s so clever! I should have thought of that.
FIDDY YOUR CHOICE HAS BEEN MADE!!
The likelihood of you dying from starvation, dehydration, exposure on this island is pretty low. You have fish in the sea, creatures in the rock pools and identifiable, edible plants, there’s even a fresh water stream, miraculously. If you manage to die from exposure on an island with caves, trees and hedges then that’s your own fault.

Fair enough. However if this is the case you may want to change the thread title from ‘Desert’ to ‘Deserted.’
Love one another.

How have I not found this thread yet?
Songs (how in the world am I supposed to do this?!):
Strawberry Fields Forever – I have to. I honestly don’t think I could live without this song.
Across The Universe – See above.
Rain – It was between Rain and Tomorrow Never Knows , and somehow Rain won. I suppose society frustrates you even when you’re completely isolated from it.
Run Of The Mill – I would probably get angry eventually, so I would have to bring this along. I also consider it to be a good representation of George’s solo songs (why did I pick only one oh no if this wasn’t entirely hypothetical I would probably die)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps – Can’t live without it. Don’t even want to try.
Every Night – I have no idea why I picked this, as it’s not even close to my favorite Paul solo song. I guess it kind of encompasses all of his solo work in a way.
Instant Karma ! (We All Shine On) – This song has so many great pieces, and it might even be my favorite John solo song. In any case, I don’t think I could survive for longer than a week without it.
Here Comes The Sun – I suppose sometimes I’ll be too happy, and will need something to make me less happy.
Books:
Regular book: I honestly have no idea. I don’t really think I have a “favorite book” because I read them in such great quantities that I can never decide. The first thing that comes to mind is Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman, which I read for the first time a few years ago and then decided I had to own. I’ve probably reread it a ridiculous amount of times by now.
Beatles book: I Me Mine . I need to have it for the rest of my life, whatever that may entail.
Religious book: Does a book about eels count? If not, I guess I would bring the Torah, as I should probably “reconnect with my ancestors” at some point, and if I’m stuck on a desert island with nothing better to do, it would probably be higher on my list of priorities than it is now.
Luxury item:
Might be nice to have unlimited ink and paper, so I could keep my sanity.

I consider myself a Harrifan, but John is pretty high up there too. I think I put three George songs and four John songs? If it had been nine, I probably would have brought something like Long Long Long or Within You Without You or The Day The World Gets ‘Round. Don’t even try to analyze anything I say or do, because you won’t get coherent results.

The island you described isn’t a desert, either, ASJ!(I know you mean deserted but I can’t help but be pedantic)
There’s an easy solution— kick everyone else off the island before leaving me there. Then it’s plenty deserted
I’ll have you know, Fiddy, that you’re wrong.
As per the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
We assume that the desert in desert island is the noun desert. In fact, the definition is simply “an island where no people live,” so the desert in desert island is actually an archaic form of deserted: it refers to an island that is uninhabited, not one that is covered with sand (with the obligatory palm tree).
Desert and deserted share etymological roots from the Latin word desertus, which means “abandoned” or “deserted.” These English words date back to the 1200s, whereas the verb to desert, meaning “to abandon,” didn’t enter English until some 400 years later (with a detour through French). Therefore, although we might think of the essential qualities of a desert are sand and heat, the word truly refers to the lack of anything else, particularly people or cultivated land.
Cool your jets kiddo, linguistics is a hobby of mine 😉

1) I Will
2) Hold On (Hopeful and the random ourburst of “cOoKiE” cracks me up every time)
3) Love Comes To Everyone (<3)
4) Temporary Secretary (Just to drive myself insane a bit quicker)
5) I’d Have You Anytime (somewhat simple lyrics but I love the song and HEY BOB DYLAN)
6) Octopus’s Garden (Just for the joke)
7) I’m Only Sleeping (trippy masterpiece)
Book? HP and the Deathly Hallows all day. Won’t help me very much but…
Luxury item: Like SF91 said, pen and paper would be nice but… a sleeping bag.

Jesus, now that you’ve mentioned it. Temporary Secretary is a much better torture method for the CIA than My Sweet Lord .
It’s played before his concerts on like a little slideshow of Paul’s life but it’s just the beginning dadodododo looped for what feels like 10 minutes, I felt like leaving before the show had even begun.
