Who came first, The Beatles or The Backstreet Boys ?

The egg.

The handwritten lyrics for Flying recently went up for auction. What obscene amount of money did it go for?

Paul – stealing the Royal Albert Hall and keeping it in his shed

Ringo – wearing his shoes on the wrong feet in public

John – failure to update his license to take LSD

George – underwater arson

Stu – possession of pocket lint

Pete – impersonating a drummer

Yoko – disturbing the peace at her own Peace Rally

George Martin – regicide

What single (‘a’ and ‘b’-side) did this motley bunch of eight record together in jail while serving their sentences?

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Yes, when asked if it would hit #1, John declared “Even higher!”…and indeed, it hit #0.

What alternate second verse was edited out of “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road” before release?

The song called “We want the BBC to censor this song, ok? Is it clear enough for you BBC censor people???”

Why did John ask Ringo to hit the cymbals like crazy after Don’t let me down’s intro?

From the rooftop, John noticed an approaching airborne flock of migrating dogs, attracted by Ringo’s flailing drumsticks and hoping to play catch. Fearful that their excited barking would spoil the take, John knew that loud crashing sounds would scare them away, so he thought quick and the recording was ultimately saved, although a falling lump of frightened-dog poop came dangerously close to landing on Billy’s amp. (Mal Evans, always the unsung hero, caught it nicely in a plastic bag left over from the Apple Salon.)

The Beatles famously invited Pete Best to join them onstage and Shea Stadium to do a couple of numbers. What was his ovation-generating contribution?

He was the fourth person to play the drums that night, after Andy White, Jimmie Nicol and Paul.

Why didn’t Ringo play drums during this concert?

Ringo was too busy playing catch-the-drumstick with the dogs that were flying around inside and above the stadium. (The camera-strapped dogs were employed by Sid Bernstein to capture the aerial film footage of the concert for posterity.)

Why did George not like George’s tie?

It was dead grotty. His mum picked it out for him before they left Liverpool; he was only wearing it to please her.

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

An electrician. He wasn’t half bad at it — in fact, he used to do it on the side during the early days of the band before the hits started rolling out, the dosh started rolling in, and the Rolling Stones started rolling. George was his apprentice for about two months.

John and Paul were going to write songs for others and Ringo was to become a hairdresser when the bubble of success burst. What was George going to do?

George was going to walk the deepest ocean, climb the widest desert, swim the highest mountain, and sell quality used mattresses at prices so low he’s practically GIVING them away!

What three Beatles songs were in the key of H?

Good Day Sunshine , For No One and One After 909

Why did Lennon/McCartney choose 910, not 810?

Because 810 features (though not in the same order) three digits from the number 1980 (George built a time machine and made them aware of it).

How did George build this time machine?
