Yes, when asked if it would hit #1, John declared “Even higher!”…and indeed, it hit #0.

From the rooftop, John noticed an approaching airborne flock of migrating dogs, attracted by Ringo’s flailing drumsticks and hoping to play catch. Fearful that their excited barking would spoil the take, John knew that loud crashing sounds would scare them away, so he thought quick and the recording was ultimately saved, although a falling lump of frightened-dog poop came dangerously close to landing on Billy’s amp. (Mal Evans, always the unsung hero, caught it nicely in a plastic bag left over from the Apple Salon.)
The Beatles famously invited Pete Best to join them onstage and Shea Stadium to do a couple of numbers. What was his ovation-generating contribution?

Ringo was too busy playing catch-the-drumstick with the dogs that were flying around inside and above the stadium. (The camera-strapped dogs were employed by Sid Bernstein to capture the aerial film footage of the concert for posterity.)

An electrician. He wasn’t half bad at it — in fact, he used to do it on the side during the early days of the band before the hits started rolling out, the dosh started rolling in, and the Rolling Stones started rolling. George was his apprentice for about two months.
John and Paul were going to write songs for others and Ringo was to become a hairdresser when the bubble of success burst. What was George going to do?
