John had his famous iguana period during the White Album in songs like Glass Iguana, Sexy Iguana, Happiness Is A Warm Iguana, Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Iguana. Eventually even George Martin noticed when John tried to get Iguana Revolution #9 past the boys and put his foot down, demanding that all iguana songs be renamed. Random nouns were put in a hat and John rewrote lyrics based on what was pulled out. But the iguana was still Paul.

Offline A giant apple. You had to peal the cover (skin) off if you wanted to listen to the album but EMI thought there would be confusion and people might try and eat it.

Offline Exactly five. Beware of Iguanas, My Sweet Iguana, Banglaguana, Got My Mind Set On Iguanas, and Iguana.
John’s iguana stage rubbed off on him. He was able to fix the first two songs for the album. The third, while obviously true, wasn’t re-written until the 80’s. Banglaguana surfaced the next year with re-written, more meaningful lyrics. The last was recorded but can only be found on very rare bootlegs, most of which were set alight in a massive bonfire during the Iguana Rebellion of 1972.

Offline Baby Lizards was a frightening photoshoot in which the Beatles were depicted enjoying a BBQ of fried iguanas, and most shockingly, Mexican beer! Capitol had it quickly changed to feature fried sausages and Budweisers but the controversy was already inflamed and led to the inevitable record-burnings. Lennon held a press conference where he explained his love for the iguana and no iguanas were hurt in the production of the photoshoot but acknowledged it was in “poor taste but the beer was great and now there’s all thisssssss”. Many Beatle historians date John’s iguana obsession to date from this period.
