I updated the rules for the game in post 1 of this thread. Take a look and see if I have everything right. https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..n/#p225645

Afraid I disagree with the change that after your guess of a letter you should wait until at least one other person has guessed a letter. It means a return to the bad old days when two people could dominate a game – leaving others feeling excluded and wary to join in what felt like private games (which can easily be played using PMs should people wish to).
I don’t see the reason the “wait for 1 other person to take a turn” rule was brought in, when myself and Egroeg Evoli were dominating games, has changed. It was meant to make sure that more than two members could join in, and that others didn’t feel excluded.
As one of those who caused the rule to be introduced across turn-based games, and aware of the annoyance at how I and EE took over the games when we were the only two on the forum, leaving other members feeling left out and not given the chance to participate, and guessing that this applies across all such games, I am withdrawing from such games.
I don’t want to return to the time when two people (puzzle setter and one player) can dominate a game.
For that reason, whoever wants the next round is welcome to take it…
EDIT: Just noticed that Joe had to roll back the forum further than he wanted to, the answer to the above puzzle, given by me, was “I hear the taxman knocking at my door” from Get Me Out of Here on New.

The waiting for another person language wasn’t in post one of this game when I edited it this morning.
Do other people want that rule too? We can make it that way. Please chime in for this game.

Hmmm…
personally,I’d suggest no double guessing (however after 6 hours you may). That would be a compromise worth taking, as it still means a game won’t stagnate, however encourages others to guess.

I believe it was left out of the rules for this game because it had already been introduced across the board on all such games, @Ahhh Girl, so didn’t need restating.
It causes the most problems when it involves two people who are on during unusual hours, as it did with myself and Egroeg were playing games to a finish in times when most of the UK and US were asleep, and we’d leave it when the game was solved, and one or the other would say they were tired and they’d set the next round when they were next on.
That situation could easily happen again with the dropping of this rule. It has worked well since it was introduced, and as I’ve already said, means I will no longer participate in such games as I know the annoyance and ill-feeling it can cause among those who feel they aren’t given the chance to take part.
While I regret that I was one of those who caused the rule introduction across all such games, I certainly see the value of it and like that it has made games more inclusive and less of a clique.

Oh, I didn’t recall that, RN.
Thanks for that suggestion, Holey.
We will give the others time to respond then we will make a decision.

I have no problem with @The Hole Got Fixed’s suggestion of a six hour wait before another go if nobody else has taken a turn.
It’s a nice compromise between seeing games go dead or being dominated by a couple of players.
Because this is a 24-hour forum in a world where we’re in different timezones, it gives all a chance to play.

Feck, the multiple “thank” glitch is definitely back…
Anyway, with more responses in, I’m going to start the next round hoping that @Ahhh Girl will adopt Holey’s suggestion, and that people will play as if it has been adopted…
