A Day In The Life – It’s the better of the two.

And Your Bird Can Sing – The guitars; oh, the guitars. Plus the vocals.

Help ! – I love the arrangement and the lyrics are incredibly honest yet not in your face.

Hey Bulldog – Said before, this shouldn’t be as good as it is.

In My Life – Incredibly close but on listening this is beautifully nostalgic yet present-living.

I Saw Her Standing There – Great live and it’s just better.

Day Tripper – The guitars; oh, the guitars. Plus the vocals.

If I Fell – Tormented vulnerability John does brilliantly.

"I told you everything I could about me, Told you everything I could" ('Before Believing' - Emmylou Harris)

1. I Got A Feeling (I’m with @Jules on this one– ADITL is a fantastic masterpiece but I do love IGAF as well and I want it to go farther in the rankings a-hard-days-night-paul-7

2. And Your Bird Can Sing (no brainer for me– AYBCS is a marvelous tune heart)

3. Help ! (Background vocals are excellent and we get that ~vulnerable boi~ John that I know and love)

4. Hey Bulldog (almost went with LR just bc ’tis my namesake and it feels like heresy not to pick it but HB is just such a great song and like definitely in my top 5 and tho LR is great HB is fantastic! paul-mccartneybeatlemaniacs_02_gif

5. In My Life (ahdn_george_05heart~)

6. I Saw Her Standing There (How could I dance with another?)

7. Day Tripper (*rattles tambourine violently over awesome main riff*)

8. Rain (this was hard– IFF is a lovely song with great harmonies and vocals, but Rain is just *chef’s kiss* a pure masterpiece~a-hard-days-night-paul-10

A Day In The Life vs I’ve Got A Feeling

Polythene Pam vs. And Your Bird Can Sing

I’m Down vs Help !

Hey Bulldog vs Lovely Rita

In My Life vs. You’re Going To Lose That Girl

I Saw Her Standing There vs. Hello Goodbye

I’m So Tired vs. Day Tripper

If I Fell vs Rain

ADITL – both songs are perfect unions of Lennon/McCartney, however the pepper finale is superior

AYBCS

Help ! – beats its own b side

Lovely Rita – Both have great piano, LR has better piano

In My Life – full-blown masterpiece

ISHST

I’m So Tired

If I Fell – my favorite duet harmony ever

"The pump don't work cause the vandals took the handles!"

-Bob Dylan, Subterranean Homesick Blues

"We could ride and surf together while our love would grow"

-Brian Wilson, Surfer Girl

A Day In The Life –I mean, come on!

And Your Bird Can Sing –great song, also concur with Holey’s logic.

Help !–Again, come on!

Lovely Rita –I understand HB has its partisans, but I am not one of them.

In My Life –now this was a hard choice, but IML has better lyrics.

I Saw Her Standing There –I feel weird making this choice, but ISHST is just such a banger.

Day Tripper –one of the best guitar riffs ever.

Rain –I’m partial to John’s psychedelic stuff, so there.

"And life flows on within you and without you"

"I guess I just wasn't made for these times"

Strawberry Fields Forever vs. I Feel Fine

Please Please Me vs I Want To Hold Your Hand

We Can Work It Out vs Penny Lane

Don’t Let Me Down vs Here Comes The Sun

Twist And Shout vs Getting Better

I Will vs Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)

I’m Looking Through You vs Taxman

I Me Mine vs Norwegian Wood

I’m a little late to the party (rather late, to be honest), but here are my two cents:

1) Strawberry Fields Forever – I love “I Feel Fine “, but I think there’s no reason why “Strawberry Fields Forever ” shouldn’t be selected.

2) Please Please Me – A bit of an unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer “Please Please Me ” to “I Want To Hold Your Hand “. I actually have no reason to justify this, and I can completely understand why others may feel the other way.

3) We Can Work It Out – Another unpopular opinion. I just love the vocals on this track, especially during the bridge when both John and Paul’s harmonies mesh together in a splendid way. John’s harmonium and guitar work are also good works on this song. I second on ASJ’s opinion on the middle eighth.

4) Here Comes The Sun – One of Harrison’s best songs, with splendid lyrics and fantastical production.

5) Twist And Shout – Tough one to decide, and I can’t really provide a justification other than voicing my own preferences.

6) I Will – I have nothing against the reprise, but I just prefer the opening track more.

7) Taxman – A bit of a biased opinion, actually quite biased since “Taxman ” is one of my favorite songs, period. I love this track, from the bass to the guitars to the production, etc. I do have a minor complaint that George’s vocals are a little rough around the edges, but I could forgo that since I think it’s quite fitting for this track. I’m a little disappointed that Virginia didn’t see my logic, but I’d digress.

8) Norwegian Wood – I don’t actually listen to “I Me Mine ” all that much, at least compared to “Norwegian Wood “. Since I (like all humans) fall under the mere-exposure effect, I much prefer “Norwegian Wood “. John’s vocals and acoustic guitar work is too good, darn it.

SFF. Pretty easy

PPM , especially the single version

WCWIO – Early Beatles are underrated

HCTS. ahdn_ringo_09+harmonies = awesome

Ugh, that’s hard. Getting Better , I guess? It’s just a little les repetitive.

The Reprise. It won’t be beaten yet!!

Taxman .a-hard-days-night-george-9a-hard-days-night-george-9

Norwegian Wood . 2 minute perfection!

Strawberry Feels Forever

I Want To Hold Your Hand – Toughest choice of the round for me.  Two “conquer the world” songs.  IWTHYH conquered America, which is what the lads wanted most, so I’ll go with that one.

We Can Work It Out – Great collaboration and one of the last true examples of such in the partnership

Here Comes The Sun – Love how cheery it is and the 50th Anniversary remaster is a gem

Twist And Shout

Sgt. Pepper ‘s Reprise – Love the funky upbeat sound

Taxman – Such biting lyrics as well as amazing bass and guitar work

I Me Mine – Great middle-eight

Strong George round from me!

Yes, I'm livin' in hope

I’m Looking Through You vs Taxman

I Me Mine vs Norwegian Wood

  1. Strawberry Fields Forever (duh)
  2. Please Please Me
  3. We Can Work It Out (I’d much rather listen to WCWIO than PL– great middle-eight, love the harmonium, Paul’s lowkey vocals = very nice)
  4. Here Comes The Sun (gorgeous pleasant song that everyone loves~)
  5. Twist And Shout (yeet)
  6. I Will (Reprise is OK, but IW is one of my top 5 songs of all time so– just so pretty and wholesome and comforting and lovely and ugh I love it soooo much hearta-hard-days-night-paul-7)
  7. Taxman (Paul’s feckin’ bangin’ guitar solo wins out again + George’s sardonicism is gold + background vocals)
  8. Norwegian Wood (fantastic acoustic + sitar + fantastic John vocals + lyrics = amazing Lennon track 11/10 would recommend)

Strawberry Fields Forever – Top 5 song of ever

I Want To Hold Your Hand – Close but not close enough.

We Can Work It Out – No contest, a massive chasm between the two.

Don’t Let Me Down – Sorry George but I love ‘DLMD’ so much.

Twist And Shout – Incredible cover.

I Will – So delicate yet breathtakingly good.

I’m Looking Through You – Not a huge fan of ‘Taxman ‘.

I Me Mine – ‘NW’ is fantastic but I really like the anger in ‘IMM’. Phil Spector’s finest Beatles moment.

Strawberry Fields Forever vs. I Feel Fine

Please Please Me vs I Want To Hold Your Hand

We Can Work It Out vs Penny Lane

Don’t Let Me Down vs Here Comes The Sun

Twist And Shout vs Getting Better

I Will vs Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)

I’m Looking Through You vs Taxman

I Me Mine vs Norwegian Wood

Strawberry Fields Forever –easy

Please Please Me –not at all easy

We Can Work It Out –again, not easy, but WCWIO has more depth as a song, I feel

Don’t Let Me Down –such a powerful love song, you can just feel John’s emotion through his singing

Twist And Shout –hard choice, but TAS is just so darn iconic

I Will –is Pepper Reprise even a proper song?

I’m Looking Through You –both great songs, this one’s just better

Norwegian Wood –I AM PULLING FOR YOU, Norwegian Wood , YOU’VE GOT THIS

"And life flows on within you and without you"

"I guess I just wasn't made for these times"
