Ok so we have a three-way tie in the Tiebreaker between Because , Here There & Everywhere, and Happiness Is A Warm Gun . Normally I would remove my own vote, but this time for the sake of moving the tournament along, I will decide this tiebreaker. With that being said, here is the next round
1 Happiness Is A Warm Gun vs 32 Rock & Roll Music
15 Drive My Car vs 18 Let It Be (Album)
5 Dear Prudence vs 28 Golden Slumbers
11 Eleanor Rigby vs 22 This Boy
9 She Said She Said vs 24 Ballad of John & Yoko
7 Something vs 26 Mean Mr. Mustard
13 She Loves You vs 20 If I Needed Someone
3 Revolution vs 30 It Won’t Be Long
Everybody vote, this is the final section of the first round. Round 2 starts tomorrow!

– Eleanor Rigby [this one was particularly tough but Paul’s songwriting on Eleanor Rigby is so good, plus the string arrangements. I don’t know if it’s better, but it is superior, if that makes sense]

Imagine that. So far everybody else besides me has filled out the bracket incorrectly If I was a dictator I’d have had no tiebreaker and just thrown Sexy Sadie back in

Hey, LSD is one of the greatest songs of all time, and no one’s going to change my mind about that! (Though I do find your meme hilarious, so begrudging props to you for that )
Gosh, this is hard. Here we go:
Drive My Car (might not be objectively the better song, but it’s the one I personally love more, so there)
Dear Prudence (only because the other doesn’t stand well on its own, though I still love it)
This Boy (probably the hardest choice this round)
There, done!

I plan to have a fillable typed bracket to release once this is over so people can fill out the entire thing on their own and share them. Sexy Sadie would win mine easily. Also, on an unrelated note, this first round went pretty well so I think I’ll run a solo career bracket after this tournament ends.

1. Happiness Is A Warm Gun (RnRM is a solid cover and a bop to an extent, but HIAWG is better– it’s an original John piece that delivers)
2. Let It Be (press F for Drive My Car — it’s a definitive bop but LIB prevails based on pathos alone)
3. Dear Prudence (no contest, in my opinion)
4. This Boy (I’ve never cared much for ER at all, but I love the three-part harmonies on TB– an overall excellent song with a wonderfully-executed bridge with full force heartwrenching vocals delivered my John and wonderful rhythm guitar.
5. She Said She Said (While there is no Paul, it makes up for it by being a terrific psychedelic song on a terrific psychedelic album– I’ll definitely take it over BOJ&Y)
6. Something (the most beautiful love song in existence complete with a feckin’ terrifically wack counter-melody bassline *infinite chef’s kisses*)
7. She Loves You (hands down a freakin’ classic bop)
8. Revolution (a mcfrickin’ rocker)

I was just gonna suggest that once this is over because this bracket is so much fun!!!
I also like the idea of the personal fillable bracket– that would be so cool! geez I’m such a nerd but I love the idea fo comparing brackets and sharing music opinions! Yeet
Edit: I also really love the memes being generated from this– it’s overall been a fun time

Happiness Is A Warm Gun – A great cover has to be over a great original.
Let It Be (Album) – It is so superior to the single mix and ‘DMC’ is, well it is.
Dear Prudence – Little difficulty in the choice, little need to explain why.
This Boy – The harmonies, oh the harmonies.
The Ballad of John & Yoko – Going on instinct, but ask me in three seconds time and I will have changed my mind.
Something – Yeah. To be otherwise would be insanity on my part.
If I Needed Someone – ‘SLY’ is far better when I listen to it but having to choose George has the win.
It Won’t Be Long – I love this so much. ‘WTB’ has such a great opening run with, well, most up to ‘HMT’.

1. Happiness Is A Warm Gun – because it’s great and all you haters who didn’t vote for it during the tie breaker, I’ll bloody fight you!!!
2. Let It Be – NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, two bangers against one another but that solo makes LIB win.
3. Dear Prudence – sweet, pretty, lovely
4. This Boy – the harmonies, the harmonies, the “This Boy , that boy” recording mistakes- all fabulous!
5. She Said She Said – awopbapaloobop
6. Something – no contest
7. If I Needed Someone – clearly I love good harmonies
8. It Won’t Be Long – such energy, such spirit, such ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’.

Let It Be – All timer in both song and guitar solo
Dear Prudence – John Lennon masterclass in songwriting
This Boy – Love GM string arrangements, but ER may be one of my least favorites
She Said She Said – The drums put this song ahead
Something – A shame the medley is not standing as one piece because the individual tracks can’t go up against all time classics
If I Needed Someone – This song is a joyride of harmony and guitar
Revolution – I prefer R1 but this is great too.

1. Happiness Is A Warm Gun – I was going to be spiteful since my two choices were knocked out unceremoniously, but…
2. EDIT: LIB – I just didn’t feel good about my selection, so I had a listen off. Now I know why I felt that way. (Sorry to mess up the tabulation @sir walter raleigh)
4. Eleanor Rigby – my #1 fave, so yeah
5. SSSS – can’t really get into J&Y
6. Something – poor Mr Mustard, didn’t stand a chance, though most wouldn’t
7. She Loves You – and your youthful exuberance!
8. Revolution
Yes, I'm livin' in hope
