The Beatles don’t scream when they see each other coming and ask each other for autographs.
It doesn’t matter whether you scream and beg for autographs, it’s all about whether you like the music or not. If I listen to Queen all the time and think it’s good music, then I’m a fan, whether I scream or not and as far as I’m concerned, The Beatles like their own music, which is all that matters.

I wish I was alive when the Beatles were together, but I don’t wish that I lived in the 60’s. Even though I love the Beatles I don’t think I was born in the wrong generation.
So you probably wish you were born around 1962 so you could’ve been like 4 when The Beatles were at their peak.

For me personally, the 60s were the best decade, music wise, hands down. I also really like 60s fashion and all. Sometimes I think I WAS born in the wrong decade, but I wouldn’t want to grow up in the 40s and 50s I think. The 90s and early 2000s were fine. Of course you wouldn’t really know any better then so hmm..don’t know..
But, as someone else earlier said, I’m not sure if I would’ve been a fan back then. I’m way too grounded to be a screaming fangirl. I’m not one for all that. Those screaming and fainting fangirls probably would’ve put me off. I’m not sure if I would have thought they were geniuses back then. Might have thought they were kind of what One Direction is now. Either that or I would’ve been a fan and would’ve just liked their music and didn’t give a damn about fangirls. It’s hard to say.

I am a first generation fan. You didn’t have to be alive in the sixties to be a first generation Beatles fan. It’s kind of like how you didn’t have to be alive in the seventeen hundreds to be a first generation American. First generation just means that you are the first one in your line of ancestry to be a fan.

@little piggy Dragonguy I think that in the spirit of this thread, “first generation” refers to the first wave of Beatle fans, i.e. those who were around (and old enough) to be fans when the band arrived on the scene.

That doesn’t make them the fans. They are the band. There is a clear delineation.
If there were an article about Paul and Ringo attending a movie premier, the press would not say “Two Beatles fans attended the premier.”

Just because they were in the band doesn’t mean they can’t be admirers of the music (aka fans). Your example of them not being fans because the press wouldn’t refer to Paul and Richard as such doesn’t hold up with me. The press wouldn’t refer to Paul and Richard as “Beatles fans” because everybody knows who they are by their names, so why would it make sense to call them something ambiguous like “Beatles fans”?

I think Paul and Ringo could be considered the ultimate Beatles fans, being in the band, and knowing pretty much everything about the band. There’s no doubt that they also appreciate the music.
To answer the OP, the Shea concert is being restored and released, all of the music videos have been restored and released, thousands of bootlegs exist on CDs and online, the Beatles catalog is available on streaming services, making it accessible to younger generations. Best of all, we have BeatlesBible.com.
This is the best time to be a Beatles fan in my opinion.

The Beatles didn’t buy tickets to their own concerts. Could it be because they were not fans or spectators of The Beatles?
1. No s**t, why the hell would they. Did Freddie Mercury ever buy tickets to see Queen, Did Jimmy Page ever buy Led Zeppelin tickets, Did Brian Wilson ever purchase Beach Boys tickets, Did Lars Ulrich ever pick up Metallica tickets, the answer is no if you were curious because they were already there.
2. What sort of logic is that, just because you don’t see someone live doesn’t mean you’re not a fan. I’ve never seen Iron Maiden live, does that mean I’m not a fan, no it doesn’t.
3. That “accurate” book of yours doesn’t just remove The Beatles from being 1st gen fans, it also removes people like my father because it claims that people born before 1945 aren’t 1st gen fans. My father was born in 1939 and actually prefers 60’s rock over 50’s rock and loves listening to The Beatles, even nowadays, a perfect example of a 1st gen fan. Don’t trust everything you see in books.

Paul is a big John fan (he said), George is a Ringo fan, Ringo is everybody’s fan and John is a John fan, so I suppose they were Beatle fans
But what about the time when Paul hated the Beatles?
So what is the start of the 1st gen fan? 1928? 1738? 636? 9?

If Paul and Ringo, attending the premier of The Beatles: Eight Days A Week in a few weeks time, found themselves being described as “Two Beatles fans attending the premier”, unless it was done tongue-in-cheek, would have us all raising our eyebrows and pointing out they’re actual Beatles. Axl Rose, James Hatfield and Mike Tyson attending the same premier, along with many other celebrities who get the chance to go, could easily be described in an all encompassing phrase like, “Celebrity Beatles’ fans turned out in force tonight for the premier of Ron Howard’s new film, with former Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr giving their seal of approval, along with John Lennon and George Harrison ‘s widows, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison.”
What it would not say is, “Beatles’ fans Paul McCartney , Ringo Starr , Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison were at the head of the queue to see Ron Howard’s new film about The Beatles at its premier tonight. They were not the only celebrity Beatles’ fans who turned out…”

Why have a start, if someone born in 1899 liked The Beatles back in the 60’s, then he’s just as much of a 1st gen fan as a girl born in 1957.

Someone who was in their 60’s by the time The Beatles hit the scene probably could not relate in the slightest to the experience of the teenagers who were first generation Beatles fans (born 1945 to 1961). Just because you are not a first generation fan and would like to be one, doesn’t mean you get to change the definitions of lots of things to make it seem like you are one.

True, he didn’t like Beatles music that much, but if we conclude from this that he wasn’t a Beatles fan, then that negates the claim that “the Beatles were Beatles fans.” Of course, NONE of them are fans, though–they are themselves.
Excuse me now while I go sign an autograph for myself.
