As the title says really, but thinking about how something could be completed by Paul and Ringo from what is already out there. The Anthology project saw two of John’s demos completed by “The Threetles”, what would be possible? My initial thoughts:
Sour Milk Sea – there is a clever construct on YouTube of George’s Esher demo combined with the Jackie Lomax version. The master tapes must exist in the Apple vaults, combine the two versions and remove the non-Beatle input.
Watching Rainbows – isolate the vocals and John’s guitar using the same technology as used by Giles Martin on the Love album, add Paul and Ringo’s contributions
Madman – ditto
I’m The Greatest – remove non-Beatles contributions, add Paul’s bass
Child Of Nature – complete the Esher demo.
Any thoughts on other possibilities for this imaginary album? A little short on Paul vocals yet!

Interesting idea but im not sure what it would really give us, add to the beatles legacy or have much point. Do we really want a pieced together mish-mash of a George guitar part flown into a Paul, Ringo and John jam or Paul and Ringo adding new drums, bass and whatever else to something John and George recorded in ’71?
There is also probably stuff from the Imagine sessions left over that Paul could add to or some embellishment made to something from the Anthology reunion and i would listen to it but truth be told whilst Free As A Bird and Real Love are ok neither have made me desperate to hear Now And Then or whatever else they did. I’d rather hear whats in the vaults and remains unreleased.
If its all 4 beatles present then George isnt on Watching Rainbows, he’d quit by the time it was jammed, and i cant see how he could be added to it. And is John on Sour Milk Sea, i thought the beatle involvement was George, Paul and Ringo?

I don’t want to hear any of those posthumous Frankensteined pieces of crap either. If what was recorded ORIGINALLY is worth hearing, let us hear it. (And if it isn’t worth hearing…let us hear it anyways, we’ll make our own decision!)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
That’s given me an idea. Has anyone ever isolated the vocals from Child Of Nature and put them on the Jealous Guy backing track? I’ve no idea if they’re in the same keys or whether it’s possible, but I’d quite like to hear it.

That’s not strictly true. While there doesn’t seem to be a Cavern equivalent of the Star Club recordings (though they probably wouldn’t sound that different), there is the Granada film of Some Other Guy on 22 August 1962, and a version of Kansas City /Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey! was also taped that day. There is also, from a month or so later, a bootlegged rehearsal at the Cavern.

We have got 2 performances of Some Other Guy and 1 of Kansas City (well nearly) plus the 5 tracks they rehearsed in ’62 so not all is lost – but yes a live complete Cavern performance would be cool and didnt a certain Mr McCartney buy one a number of years ago, possibly in the 80’s? Im sure he did.

Yes, Paul did buy a Cavern concert tape. I’ve got some of the the Cavern rehearsal tape on a bootleg and the sound is pretty good, actually.

The tape that Paul brought was recorded by a fan who brought a recorder to the Cavern around 1962. One of the songs on the tape is “Youngblood,” but I don’t know the other 17. An album could be made from these 18 songs, the 5 rehearsed songs, “Some Other Guy,” and “Kansas City .” The album would be cool, but I don’t think it will ever be created.

There are so many ‘odds and ends’ of songs from the Get Back sessions that a medley (a la Abbey Road side 2) or a construct (a la A Day In The Life , made up of two entirely different songs) has to be possible with Paul and Ringo adding overdubs. In fact I’m quite amazed a bootlegger hasn’t attempted this with Audacity or similar technology. A very successful construct of this nature was made for ABBA’s “Thank You For The Music” box set (“ABBA Undeleted on disc 4).

We have a ‘odds and sods’ medley of the Get Back sessions on Let It Be Naked called Fly On The Wall. Its incredibly pointless and I doubt many go back to it that often if at all. I’ve played it once in 10 years and that was when it first came out.
There is no chance in the universe of Paul and Ringo overdubbing new parts on any of the Beatles recordings, Free As A Bird , Real Love and Now And Then (or whatever it was called) were it and they were 1970’s Lennon demos.

I’ve tried to compare those two the other day, but I THINK they’re in a different key. One of them is sung slightly higher and one of them is a tad slower than the other. I believe Child Of Nature was both slightly slower and higher, but I’m not sure as it was a while ago.

It has been done, sort of. There’s a YT video that isn’t totally successful, mainly because whoever did it didn’t manage to completely isolate the demo’s vocal from the demo’s guitar, but nor is it a total failure as it does give some idea… It does show, when someone does manage to isolate the vocal properly, the potential is there for an interesting fake…

Like I said, shows the possibility when someone manages to strip John’s Child Of Nature vocal properly. Never said it was good!

A new album couldn’t be done, because there are two members dead now, but maybe a new EP/maxi-single, since George recorded parts for Now And Then , Grow Old With Me , and All For Love.

Something like this would be OK by me. As some of you know I am in the minority on this but would be happy with any interesting new music whatever name they slapped on the label. There are some albums by bands like The Beach Boys , The Who and many more that I really like which wouldn’t exist if some of the ‘purists’ had their way.
