It should, of course, be noted that PJ Proby’s version is not actually a cover but the original. As we all know, The Beatles shelved their version, and it wasn’t released until Anthology…

Thank goodness for remote controls. Imagine having to sit all the way thru that crap nowadays if you couldnt be bothered getting up. Would be worth breaking the tv just to get it to stop.

I think anyone could be bothered to get up for some things. Unless you were paraplegic.

BUMP
I pretty much dislike Sean Lennon’s cover of This Boy . He butchered it, in my opinion:
And as for as bizarre goes, this is

The vocals on Sean’s cover are horrendous, i wondered if they rehearsed beforehand as at times it sounds like one doesn’t know what the other two are doing.
Bing’s is average bland nothing – which makes it worse in some ways.

I couldn’t listen to the whole of Sean’s ……..woefully poor ……..’This Boy ‘
Maybe it got better later……….
But as P3pperish suggests……..the ‘Butcher’s Cover’ came to mind.

For some reason, I’d like to hear Christopher Walken sing “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away ” (especially those “Hey!” parts…)

I went thru about a month of trying to get into liking David Bowie. I gave up when i realised it would take a hell of a lot longer and a lot more effort and patience. I dont get the attraction. He’s ok in very small doses, say a track here or there every 78 months or so.
The above cut is just another reason for me to continue not to bother.

Directly from Uruguay, an “awesome” Ticket To Ride in Spanish. Though, they had better songs, in fact, they were called “the Uruguayan Beatles” (I’m going to post some in the Songs by other bands that sound “Beatles-ish” thread later).

Thanks Merch. Very interesting. Quite an enthusiastic and infectious tribute they created. A couple of things I think are inferior — the recurring extended upward spooning bluesy at the turnaround which the Beatles do at the word “ride” — “She’s got a ticket to RIIIIIIIIIIDE — and she don’t care!” is rather muted by Los Shakers. Also some of their guitar riffs aren’t up to snuff. All in all, however, it’s a welcome tribute.
The album cover amusingly shows a version of the Beatles that’s kind of one Lennon (far left), one McCartney (far right), and two Ringos in the middle (i.e., their George looks more like Ringo than like George).
