Who was the best keyboard player who played on a Beatles record, and who was the best Beatle on keyboards?
I can’t decide: George Martin, Billy Preston or Nicky Hopkins imo
For the second one, I’m going to say Paul (and I think that’s what most people think) although I really love many of Lennon’s piano (or other keyboard instrument) lines

Offline I was gonna vote for Billy Preston, but then I thought about all the songs where I love what George Martin does on the keyboard/piano, so I chose him. As for the best Beatle keyboardist, I picked Paul.
It’s still fun to watch John in this though.

Offline Although Billy Preston was an incredible keyboard player, George Martin was a classically-trained pianist of an extremely high calibre, so I’d give the first pick to him. Paul for the second one.

Offline Well, GM’s abilities were obvious, and Nicky Hopkins’ contributions to many Stones/Who/Jeff Beck/etc. records were absolutely crucial. But I’m giving this one to Billy Preston on the basis of “Spacerace” alone:

Offline My loyalty lies with the 5th Beatle Bill George Martin for best keyboard player with the In My Life solo being a highlight.
The best Beatle on keyboards, Paul is the only one that springs to mind.

Offline I’m always #1 for Billy Preston. Fender Rhodes, Hammond Organ, and old school rock piano, hes simply one of the all time greats. GM was incredible (just hear Rock N Roll Music).
As for Beatles, Paul played Sexy Sadie ’s part so he wins.

Offline I also have to give my all time favorite player Nicky Hopkins a shoutout for his insane playing on Revolution . Stunning keyboard work that doesn’t pop out unless you tune into it.
