I got the cutest puppy ever on Monday, and we were thinking about naming her Martha, but she doesn’t look like a Martha, and I liked Stella better anyways, so that’s her name. It’s not meant to be a Beatles reference, but I guess it kind of is (Paul has a daughter Stella).

I was watching a show on sea life on Discovery Channel, and at the end there were these beautiful shots of seals swimming under water. The song that was playing? A rendition of “Octopus’s Garden .”
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

Today, I was in the car listening to “Hey Joe” by Jimi Hendrix. After the song was done the announcer came on saying, “Jimi was a wizard and genius with that guitar. Speaking of which today is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birthday. You have geniuses like him, Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky, and The Beatles who just went in there and changed the world.” I was not expecting him to mention The Beatles.

Nice! You’re a Hendrix fan too? Have you ever seen this video?

Yes Not as big of fan as I am The Beatles, but a fan none the less. I love his guitar playing and his singing even though its not the best, it reminds of old bluesy style which I hear a lot from where I am from. Funny thing is, I hate Bob Dylan’s voice, but I love his lyrics though. Oh yes I’ve seen the video before.

Thank you! I’m not the only one! I totally appreciate Dylan’s music, but can never get past that voice! I give him a ton of credit for the influence he had on the Beatles, though. Not only with his music, but for introducing them to pot. That definitely opened up their minds more to the creative musical genius that was The Beatles.

That’s why I don’t get why people think pot is so bad. The Beatles wrote amazing music while on pot, although they wrote amazing music on other drugs too, but thats besides the point. I believe cigarets are worse and sometimes alcohol is worse, but yet those are legal. Thats just my opinion though.

I totally agree, it’s so harmless. I hope it gets legalized soon. At least the ball is rolling, in some states at least. Canadians are always copy-cats so we will follow suite eventually. We need a different prime minister first because Harper is 100% against it, but that should come soon enough. The laws are pretty lax on it here already though (thank goodness).

Wish things were lax in all of the states, sadly not though especially here in the south. Hey British Columbia is close to Washington, one of the states that has legalized it, so you can just cross the border..just don’t cross back over the border with the weed though.

True! I am actually very close, just a short ferry ride. Just got my passport too!

Last night our hillbilly neighbours were having a party, so my dude decided to put on Beatles Rock band to drown out their loudness. He was playing, mostly Sgt Pepper , and he says “Look at this: I’m playing Beatles Rock band, my girlfriend is wearing a Beatles t-shirt, has a Beatles tattoo, and we’re both drinking coffee out of Beatles mugs.” Yeah, that’s how we roll.

To LongHairedLady, Sky090909 and other Hendrix fans, here’s a picture I took of Jimi Hendrix in May ’68 at Madison Square Garden.
(I was just a young teenager; in those days you could walk up to the stage and take a picture. It was a rotating stage, so I got pictures from all angles.)

As for pot, I’m against legalizing it (except for medical stuff):
– Considering how people are against additives in foods, etc…, why would anyone want to add another toxin to their body?
– Having done some research on this many years ago, I don’t think most people who smoke know what they’re getting into. It can depress the immune system. It is stored in our fat cells and sticks around a long time: the half life is 2 weeks. So 2 weeks after taking a toke, half the stuff is still in your body. And it sits there free to interact in totally unknown fashion with every other thing you put in your body including medications.
I’m glad the Beatles experimented with stuff because it led to great music.
But just look at the Beatles to see what happens you experiment with drugs: each Beatle illustrates the different paths that can lead you down.

Off topic but replying. Doesn’t that idea depend on how accurate our knowledge of their drug use is, and how those around them considered it affected them? And if you’re going to ban substances except for medicinal, ban the lot. What the differences between the taxed drags and the untaxed drugs. Ooo, let’s think about that. Alcohol, tax drug. Tobacco, tax drug. Sugar, tax drug. Caffeine, tax drug. Saturated fats, tax drug. Can you really say these tax drugs – with their addictions, obesity, diabetes, deaths of others while under the influence, and cancers – are any less harmful?

Y’know, there’s probably a thread for that discussion.
Beatley moment: Some people at school were singing Here Comes The Sun in the hallway (for no apparent reason), so I asked them if they liked the Beatles. Their response: “Ew! Bugs are gross!”

Don’t know there is, but I was just replying to Into the Sky with Diamonds, and responding to what he was saying to LongHairedLady and Sky090909 about views they’d expressed elsewhere. Even though I haven’t taken an illegal drug in three or four years, I don’t see any problem with them. I just take the prescribed drugs nowadays.

Yeah, I know, sorry. Just figured there would be one, that’s all, considering the vast amount of topics the Fab Forum has covered so far… And I don’t mind off-topic discussions. In fact, I sometimes start them.

There’s probably a Beatles and drugs, and certainly Beatles and drugs crop up in more than one thread, but I don’t think there’s, and I’m not sure Joe would allow, a general discussion on drugs. You seen my Bill Hicks post on, I think, page 20 of the choosing between two things thread, you might like.
