At Trader Joe’s today they played Tracey Ullman’s “They Don’t Know,” which I haven’t heard since it was in heavy rotation. And then I remembered the video had a Paul cameo at the end.
I remember thinking that if he really drove like that, the car would be in a ditch somewhere. ;->

Today I was at lunch with my grandmother and her brother and there was a guy sitting with his wife at the table diagonal to us. He looked like John Lennon from the Imagine era, glasses and all, except his hair was little darker and grayer. He even had his hands the same way John did in this picture below. I was half tempted to go over there and say he looked like John, but I was too afraid to make a fool of myself in that section of the restaurant. I also tried my best not look so much.

Thanks parlance! That little snippet made my day, he is just too adorable!
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

You’re welcome!
My Beatley moment of today is hearing the postman dump a package outside my door, and me thinking, “I think I know what that is…”
And it was! My copy of the last issue of The Dandy with Paul arrived.
I ordered it before Christmas and was getting worried it had sold out. Now that my Christmas gift has arrived, I have to not spend any more money for a few months. ;->

I wasn’t sure whether this would fit best here or in the creepy stories thread, but I don’t think it’s all that creepy, so I’ll post it here.
I was on iTunes listening to previews of Beatles songs I’ve never heard before. We still haven’t taken down most of our Christmas decorations. I was listening to a preview of Only A Northern Song , and my mom said something like, “Ugh, what is that? It’s really annoying.”
A Christmas stocking fell down.
My mom didn’t notice, and she said, “But at least it’s not as bad as that Revolution 9 crap.”
Another Christmas stocking fell down.
I think she offended John and George.

Ok I just remembered one! A few weeks ago now.. maybe longer because it was over Christmas.. I was at my mom and aunts house watching Jeopardy. I totally suck, never get any answers right. The topic for final Jeopardy came up and it was “1960’s Rock Music” and I yelled out “The Beatles!” and we laughed, thinking that would be just too easy.
The answer came up and was “This 1967 No. 1 hit contains snippets of ‘In the Mood,’ ‘Greensleeves,’ & ‘She Loves You .’” Before he was done reading it I blurted out “All You Need Is Love !” I was all proud because I had guessed it before my mom and aunt, who have been Beatles Fans since Ed Sullivan! Of course I was right, but I was appalled that not ONE of those stupid eggheads got it right! I can’t remember what their answers were but they were totally off! Obviously not one of them was a Beatles Fan.
That’s my Beatley moment!

Did they guess The Beatles at all? If not I would’ve gone on a rant. Lol
I think one of them guessed Sgt. Peppers (the song), and the other one I think guessed a Rolling Stones song. As soon as I saw the “She Loves You ” part I knew instantly, but of course I always have “Beatles Brain”.

Sgt Pepper is close
But close is not good enough. Beatles brains unite!
Rolling Stones singing “She Love You”…that would be intresting.

George Martin’s musical quotes (ignoring La Marseillaise at the beginning) appear towards the end. There are three in all. I believe them to be located, approximately:
2:54 Bach’s Brandenberg Concerto (brass)
3:03 In the Mood (wind)
3:15 Greensleeves (strings)

I’d heard these parts but had trouble placing them. Brilliant. Thanks for this.

Just a slight correction to what I said originally said, parlance. In the Mood was played by the wind section, not the brass. My brain and fingers weren’t paying proper attention to each other. Glad the information of some use.

Came across this in the Sun newspaper. In an interview with E from the Eels (real name Mark Oliver Everett) he is asked “What do you make of the gun law debate raging across the States” he replies “I don’t like guns. I’m against them. I don’t like anything that killed John Lennon “. Its the big headline from the interview which is promoting their new album ‘Wonderful, Glorious’.

Another one happened today. On the morning announcements they play little bits of songs at the begining and they played I Gotta a Feelin (the Black Eyed Peas song) and then I started singing out “A feeling I can’t hide oh no, oh no”
