Some last night – as I was watching Jeopardy, in a category on Yo-Yo Ma, one of the questions was “In 2009, Yo Yo Ma played with this Canadian Prime Minister, where he played With A Little Help From My Friends .” The answer was Stephen Harper, for those who care

I care. That’s interesting. Didn’t know Stevie was musical…
I just found my vinyl copy of the White Album and I am very tempted to put the pictures that were included inside it up on my wall.

Correction – the answer was “Who is Stephen Harper?” It was on Jeopardy after all.

I was watching 3rd Rock from the Sun re-runs. Dick Salomon (played by John Lightow) is making out with Dr. Albright (Jane Curtin), the other 3 members of Salomon family start complaining about how their relationship is affecting their little group. Then Sally says “It’s like that Yoko woman who ruined her husband’s band”.

I saw that and later that week a question about rock books. No one guessed The Quiet One.

Starisson McLennon and I are actually neighbours, and we are both obsessed with the Beatles….. That’s kind of freaky. Anyway, we walk around our neighbourhood a lot just dancing and singing Beatles songs all day! Same with my other friend, but we sing VERY loudly, and freak people out who are passing in cars or mowing their lawns! “I’m Down ” is a fun one to sing and dance to, if anyone was interested in trying our little activity…..

I called a company I do business with that has an automated phone system – you know “For this option press ___, for that option press ___, etc….”
At one point the automated voice said “For yes, press the pound key (#)”. Even though my response was YES, I was dying to select NO so I could “press the Star key”.

That (#) is called the pound key over there? For us it’s the hash key. Weird.
Not really that wierd – over here we still weigh things in pounds not kilos. In the US, # is one symbol for pound, whereas in the UK pound (£) means something totally different.

Wow, “Tomorrow Never Knows ” on Mad Men last Sunday night! (Any other fans here?) That was a thrill – I wanted to post immediately after the episode but the site was down, of course. As soon as Meghan handed Don Draper that copy of “Revolver ” and suggested “Play THIS song” I was like HOLY S**T I can’t believe this is going to happen!
Sources say it cost the producers a quarter-million dollars to use the song! (And Don didn’t even allow it to play it all the way through – not as catchy as “I Want To Hold Your Hand ” which he couldn’t stop whistling a couple of weeks ago)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I’d use lb to indicate 16 ounces.
To obtain a special dialling wand, please mash the key pad with your palm, now.

Yup – but don’t get to watch it often enough. My plan is to eventually buy the whole DVD collection and watch it from beginning to end. (Maybe I can call in sick one day.)
Loving “Veep,” but no Beatley moments yet.
BUT (back on topic): new anesthesia machine in the operating room. The alarm consists of … the first six notes of “My Love“

At the office, we use Windows 7. When we lock our computers, the tone resembles the first few mellotron notes of “Strawberry Fields Forever “.
BTW, Ron – gotta love doctors who dig the Beatles. I had my yearly today and in my chart, my doc has written “Beatles fan!”.
