I called a client yesterday and was asked if I could please hold. I thought, “great more elevator muzak”.
Imagine my delight when I heard “Come Together “. I was then hoping my client would take at least 4 minutes 20 seconds to get to the phone.

That’s great!!!
I had a Beatley Moment yesterday morning. The Rock movie was on TV, and I didn’t remember that Nic Cage’s character is a Beatle fan. He buys Meet the Beatles and gets the album at his office.
Here comes the sun….. Scoobie-doobie……

My nine-year-old cousin asked me “If you could do anything with any living celebrity, what would you do?” I don't know why, but my immediate response was “I want to go to Build-A-Bear with Ringo Starr .” That would be kind of amazing, yes?
"Now and then, though, someone does begin to grow differently. Instead of down, his feet grow up toward the sky. But we do our best to discourage awkward things like that."
"What happens to them?" insisted Milo.
"Oddly enough, they often grow ten times the size of everyone else," said Alec thoughtfully, "and I’ve heard that they walk among the stars."

Now you deserve apples for that answer.

I had two Beatley moments today. The first was at school, when I saw someone's paragraph in English mention both Lord of the Rings and Ringo Starr .
The second was just a moment ago, as my Mom was watching Monk. They referred to one of the character's as “Lovely Rita “.

Was watching an episode of Only Fools and Horses a few days back, titled Mother Nature's Son, which had Money (Thats What I Want) from With The Beatles played near the end. And recently they aired the episode that has Pauls Uncle Albert but fades before the Admiral Halsey (aka Hands Across The Water) section begins.

Today was a good day. As I was walking home, I dialled up some Clash. As The Magnificent Seven was playing in my ears, I heard this:
A.M., the F.M. the P.M. too
Churning out that boogaloo
Yes, Ringo, I smiled.

There's a new poster in my school library. Of the Bed-In for Peace. Not sure what this has to do with reading but I like it.

Is that one of the Apple (computer, not Corps.) posters of famous people? If so, my school had them in almost every classroom. They were very distracting in the best way possible.

A twitter Beatley Moment: As I was killing time on Andrew Coyne's page, I saw this tweet:
14-year-old girl wearing a Beatles t-shirt. Let's see: when they broke up, her *mother* would not yet have been born.
And then I see this, same man:
But then, as I wrote a while back, I don't think kids today look at music through the same chronological lens we did:http://cl.ly/253N161U0Q3J0X0C163H
It's a long text, so I'll highlight the interesting parts:
The current issue of Rolling Stone, in celebration of the magazine’s fortieth anniversary, is devoted to the year 1967 — the music, the culture, the whole scene, man. At the back of the magazine, there is a list of the top 40 singles for that year. And 1967 wasn’t even a particularly good year! Dylan had had his motorcycle accident, the Beatles were traipsing around with the Mahareshi, Brian Wilson’s disintegration had begun, Elvis was lost in Hollywood. If 1967 gave us a hundred timeless songs, any one of the three previous years are good for twice as many — songs that are still heard at parties, from passing car radios, and in countless TV commercials. Time was when everyone did the same thing together — listened to the same songs, wore the same clothes etc — and everything and everyone changed together, in rapid succession. The Beatles grew their hair long, so everyone grew their hair long; Dylan smoked up, so everyone smoked up. I can look at an album from the Sixties and tell you when it came out within six months — three, if pressed — just by the clothes and hairstyles.
Mr. Coyne, I've always enjoyed your work, and especially that.

I don’t think this last bit is a very good point. The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper , Magical Mystery Tour , Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane , All You Need Is Love and Hello Goodbye . The Beach Boys released Pet Sounds. Dylan had his crash, yes, but he wrote All Along The Watchtower and three hit singles for other artists. He might be right that '65 and '66 produced more classic songs, but these examples don't really back up his point, except for Dylan.

I was doing my Geometry homework, and a problem referenced two guys named “Stu” and “George” doing THEIR Geo homework. I promptly cracked up thinking of Stu and George (as in Sutcliffe and Harrison, of course) being, of all things, study buddies.
A sort of anti-Beatles moment: My friend and I were in a tent with these two girls on a school trip, and we ended up playing Truth or Dare. My friend asked everyone who they thought the most attractive Beatle was. The other girls answered “I don’t know what they look like”, which was excusable, and “Ummm, not the dead one, glasses are nerdy, not the one with the weird name, he’s creepy, I guess the other one. He doesn’t look that bad.” which was most definitely NOT for various reasons:
- John’s glasses are not nerdy.
- What do you mean, Ringo is creepy?
- Paul looks a lot better than “not that bad.”
- And finally, there’s a reason they’re called the Fab Four. SHE FORGOT GEORGE!!! HOW DARE SHE?!?!
I’m still appalled.
Than again, this is the same girl who thinks Julius Caesar and Columbus were alive at the same time and that Chairman Mao is currently in charge of the Chinese government.
Unfortunately, not kidding.

Pet Sounds was released in 1966, The Beach Boys released the albums Smiley Smile and Wild Honey in 1967, and Brian Wilsons breakdown had begun as Smile was abandoned. And to be fair the Beatles were traipsing around with the Maharesh, however as has been mentioned they also released Pepper and everything else that year. I also think that certainly 2/3 of 1967 was a good time for music and for society in general. It was only towards the end that the copies of Pepper began to flow out and the drug culture became more noticeable.
