I went to Croydon today to visit the ‘Rewind: This Is Croydon’s Music’ exhibition at the Museum Of Croydon. It celebrates the borough’s rich musical history. The Fab Four were included as they performed there. Croydon is also the birthplace of my favourite female artist, Kirsty MacColl who’s also featured. I had a fantastic time there.
This is a painting of them featured on a record shop promo display.

Sounds like a nice outing, @Rube.
Interesting that the record store poster chose to use images of them later in the decade.
Here’s Joe’s page for that concert https://www.beatlesbible.com/1…..a-croydon/

I was in a busy aisle at Walmart yesterday afternoon, but a few notes of music hit my ears above the din. I walked down a quieter side aisle, and sure enough, I was treated to Goodnight Tonight.
Don’t say it!
Don’t say it!
Say anything but don’t say goodnight tonight

I got When We Was Fab while comparing prices of dish washing liquid at Walmart today. Yes, I stayed in the aisle until the song was over.

Searching through John quotes today on my birthday. They were reassuring. Whether or not he was projecting a tough facade, he was very much saying to focus on now and not be too nostalgic about the past. He was not too worried about things being “over” as there was still theoretically 40 more years to create. We know that didn’t happen, but his points still holds true. Thanks for the wisdom John, your spirit is always there when I need it. Live for today.

When I got out my car at a restaurant yesterday, I saw a personalized license plate that said
THNXRNGO
I told the driver that I just had to know about her license plate.
She giggled and said, “My friend who goes by the nickname Ringo gave me this truck.”
I said, “Oh, I wondered if it was for Ringo Starr .”
She said, “He’s in his seventies so I am sure he is a Beatles fan.”

A customer brought in a photograph of the Beatles at the Cavern Club which had been signed by Pete Best for custom framing. I was a little excited… just a little bit

been to the cavern club a few times throughout various trips to liverpool. Nice place, but it gets very loud. Luckily, a lot of good Beatles tribute acts play there, one even played Slow Down (a song I barely even knew about at the time)
Pete best=played with George harrison
that’s enough to get me paying in the thousands!

I was wearing my Now And Then t-shirt at the dog park, and a lady said that back in the 60s she wanted to marry Paul. I said I’d still marry him now. We both had a good laugh.

We have been watching the movie ARGYLE on the weekend and the Song Now And Then is very often in the movie and has a rather prominent role. The movie itself is fun too!

Really deep Beatley moments for me today – the 60th anniversary of the concert in Dunedin, New Zealand that I attended, June 26, 1964.
Seems like Yesterday .
I have of course bought the recently published book “When We Was Fab” about their tour of Australia and New Zealand (not cheap, weighs a ton, but soooooo worth having for me!)
All the photos of the concert that have been published seem to be from the 6 pm one, whereas I attended the 8.30pm one on the same night. I was right up the front in front of policemen and John Lennon was a couple of feet away, so I should have found myself in a photo if it had been of the right concert.
That tour was New Zealand’s first real entrance into the 1960s, I’d say, and to the Beatles themselves we seemed a bit behind the times, although we certainly had the screaming fans, the crush of people at the concerts and in front of the hotels they stayed at (I was there too and thought I’d die in that crowd)
The security was woefully inadequate because the cops just didn’t expect staid old NZ to react as we did, and insisted to the Beatles’ security people that they had experience of celebrity visits, so could manage it. John actually got some of his hair pulled out and sustained a cut on his leg as the cops thrust him through the door of one of the hotels. He was understandably not impressed!! The police themselves feared for their lives.
Still – I soaked in every minute of that concert, so much that it really does seem like yesterday – I can see their faces clearly in my mind, every gesture, every song, the sense of ecstasy! I was 15, the perfect age to be a Beatlemaniac!
