Un-Beatley moments:
When you bring up Now And Then at work but nobody understands the excitement.
When you have to decide whether to listen to it at 2pm and potentially (definitely) cry at your desk, or wait until you get home and listen to it THREE WHOLE HOURS LATE.

I planned my day around the 2pm release. Then BBC Radio 2 ran the news I couldn’t be bothered listening and so changed to YouTube. Don’t say 2pm when it’s 3 minutes past.
I am trying to figure out how I can watch the video release at 2pm tomorrow when I am in a class.

I stayed up for the song, which was 10pm here. Not a bad time. I listened to it for about ten times then went to bed.

I crossed the threshold of the cafe and “Imagine ” started playing there. I had my glasses on and a book about John in my backpack.

I stumbled upon a Sky radio channel last night (Classic Rock?) which was playing ‘Love Me Do ’ (the one with Ringo on drums). Turned out to be a documentary on the Beatles career which was clearly there to promote the ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ albums.
Played parts of songs and interviews and I turned it off and went to bed when Dave Grohl came on – nothing against Dave, I was tired and don’t get much enjoyment out of hearing the first half of ‘Twist And Shout ’ whilst someone talks over the rest of it. Let us hear the songs all the way thru.

‘Dear Prudence ‘ was playing when I was looking at paint in a store. Milk And Honey was one of the shades which immediately brought John’s posthumous album to mind – I doubt that’s the reason for the shade’s name tho

Dear Prudence was the topic of a quiz question on Absolute Radio today.
Siouxsie and the Banshees had a hit with Dear Prudence in 1983, but who originally recorded the song?
For a bonus point; who was the song originally written about?
Cue me yelling “Mia Farrow’s sister!” in my office.

I mentioned recently in another thread how I’m going through a buncha old stuff my mum kept for years; and I realized I’ve got a photographic example of a *double* Beatley moment from 1970! This photo of me and my dad appeared in the local paper…
(We’re in Centennial Park, in Sarnia, Ontario, btw, on the southernmost point of Lake Huron. Bisecting the yellowed old photo horizontally is the St. Clair River; further back, across the river is the town of Port Huron, Michigan.)
Anyways, Beatley moment #1 – I’m playing near a concrete replica of a ‘boat’ that was painted red and yellow, with iron bars for kids to climb and a bell to ring at the top, I played on it regularly. And even though it was clearly a replica of a boat (and more red than yellow), I would still refer to it as the “yellow submarine”, a song (chorus) I liked singing
And Beatley thing #2 is at the far left there, near my dad: it’s a circular slide with an interior spiral staircase – in other words, an actual “Helter Skelter “.
(LOL the interior of that slide always, always smelled like pee )

Ooh, very good one! A further double – both a sailing ship and the chopped-up tree logs buried in the sand

On my now rare travels I came upon an old style record shop which had Beatles bootlegs, group and solo old and new LPs and vinyl singles, ‘FAAB’ and ‘RL’ CD EP’s and Paul/Wings cassettes.
Also on sale were a dozen or so copies of the 7” and 12” singles for ‘Now And Then ’ so I bought one of each as I figure in a good few years I’ll be delighted to own them and it’s unlikely to find them by chance at a later date.
A branch of HMV further down the road had ‘N&T’ on CD so if you want to get copies of all three break into the internet, discover where I was and come here. [If all copies were sold the Beatles would probably be back in the top 10 UK singles chart.]

Turns out there’s a YouTube channel featuring old 70s home-movie colour footage of the town and the park, so here’s a couple of better screenshots of the two play-structures. (Nice to see that red-and-yellow again after so many years; boat was repainted powder-blue back in the 80s or 90s)

On Saturday, my parents, my Uncle and I played The Beatles Trivial Pursuit game. We were separated into 2 teams – My parents in one and my Uncle and I on the other. We all did well, but my team won. Everyone was impressed with my knowledge.

Went to the theater on Friday. Two of the three movies had Beatle references.
The first movie was Argylle, which played Now And Then repeatedly (that must have been expensive). Also, the music producer for the movie was Giles Martin.
The other movie that had less of a Beatles reference was Scrambled. At one point in the movie, one of the characters plays a record and it clearly had a Dark Horse logo. Unfortunately, a Harrisong did not play when the needle was dropped.
