Arguably Australia’s most well-known satire company just published this article: http://betootaadvocate.com/bre…..oblematic/
A few references Australians will get but others may not, but it still rings very true.

So umm I might be playing train-based games a bit lately and err looking at trains on youtube. Anyway, watching Michael Palin’s Great Railway Journeys 1980 (Confessions of a Train-Spotter) when there’s a digression for a historical parade of trains and what do you think is playing underneath the montage?
And I Love Her Steady on, Michael, you’ve got a wife and kids man.
edit:
And again at 39:44 there’s a charming tuba-led version of When I’m 64.

So a friend of mine from college recently did a 24-hour live show on Facebook to raise money for Black Lives Matter, and he asked me to be on it for an hour long discussion. We mostly talked about philosophy–which mildly disappointed me, as he and I had initially bonded over the Beatles, and I was hoping we’d talk about them too. Well…my friend lost the recording of his live stream (thanks Facebook), and so as a way to thank donors for exceeding his fundraiser’s goal, he had another hour-long discussion with me this evening…and this time he challenged me to a Beatles trivia game. The rules were two points for no clues, one point for one clue, and zero points for incorrect guessing. How did I do, you ask? Well, with the exception of one question about which of the Beatles wrote an autobiography (which I got one point on), I got the full two points on every question. Am I tooting my own horn? Absolutely, but I knew the lovely people here would appreciate this more than anyone.

I’ve had a few times in my life where The Beatles’ (or specifically Paul / Wings) songs have played on the radio at exactly the right moment:
A few years ago I bought a DAB radio, and the first time I turned it on Jet was playing on Absolute Radio.
A couple of weeks after that I listened to Absolute Radio 60s on my birthday, and Birthday played.
I once bought my dad’s car off of him (he was upgrading and I needed a cheap runabout) and on the day I picked it up and we took it for a drive, as I turned the engine on Drive My Car was playing on BBC Radio 2. (Baby, you can Drive My Car ! We both couldn’t believe it.)
And just now I was listening to a daily mix on Spotify, and Let Me Roll It played as I was rolling cookie dough into balls. (Okay so this isn’t one of the more significant moments in my life but I’m still gonna take it!)
All very coincidental, and obviously I’m listening to stations and playlists that are Beatle heavy to begin with, but I still love it when it happens. Definitely feel at one with the universe for a second.

That seems to be some good synchronicity at play in your life @kelicopter. I love those moments in my life as well, when things happen outside of the traditional sciences. A few times I experienced group synchronicity at Dead shows. A good portion of the crowd already knew what the next song would be (maybe before the band did). There was a special gasp to howl to laughter sound that was unmistakeable (you can hear it clearly on some of the audience boots).

During the year-in-review of Johnson’s time as Prime Minister on today’s episode of BBC Radio 4’s The World This Weekend, they started playing Here Comes The Sun .
Wonder if George would approve?

A few days ago I was listening to Cry Baby Cry . It’s hard to explain, but something in my mind changed perception wise, like a moment of clarity.
I had been grappling with an issue and I felt the mental realisation click over, with the music transporting me to a better place. And I’m still there, and will stay there. Sounds like psycho babble, but it was a real moment folks.

No needing to try to convince us that the moment was real. Glad you had that experience and shared it with us.

A DJ on the radio (British station called Greatest Hits) announced that he was about to play a song by “Sir George Harrison ” – to which I exclaimed “he wasn’t a Sir, he had an MBE!” in the middle of my office.

I was looking at some of my mum’s CDs not too long ago, and found that she had Jukebox by Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings, which is made up of covers of songs that they listened to during their youth. Lo and behold, there’s a Beatles song on there, and it’s “I’m Happy Just To Dance With You “, nonetheless! Apparently Randy is a big AHDN fan.
