I was at the outside seating of a restaurant when I heard someone blasting When I’m Sixty-Four. Like, ear-destroying. I have no idea where it was coming from, but I enjoyed it quite a lot.

‘You’re Not Alone Anymore’ playing in the hotel restaurant this morning. Not a song I’m ever expecting to hear when out and about, normally if Wilburys it’s ‘End of the Line’ or ‘Handle with Care’.

There are builders outside doing work on apartments and their radio was playing Nowhere Man about an hour ago.

Was watching BBC News earlier and there was a reporter interviewed about the start of the Netball World Cup (basketball for women) in Liverpool today, in the arena behind her they were rehearsing for this evening’s opening ceremony, and heard during the 3-4 minute report were versions of Across The Universe and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds .

While I was with my extended family, I was walking with one of my cousins to the corner store. I had one of my Beatles shirts on and a random man passed me and said, “The Beatles? Nice.” I don’t really live in a place with any Beatles fans of any sort (it’s a pretty boring place, actually, with more gas stations than people), so it came as a big surprise. I asked them if he was a big fan, and he laughed and said, “Who isn’t?” He probably wasn’t a hardcore fan, but I took it as a personal win and a win for the rest of the Beatles fanbase.

A cousin of mine is getting married next year, and I recently went to his engagement party. We’d been there about 2-3 hours, then the DJ asked the happy couple to get up and have a dance. After that,he started taking requests. I went up and asked for Twist And Shout , and everyone got on the dance floor.
A few songs later, the DJ announced “now I’m going to play the best band in the world,” and puts on We Are The Champions by Queen. I couldn’t resist. Fuelled by (more than) a few drinks, I shouted to the DJ “eh mate (so Scouse when I’m drunk), you’ve already played the best band in the world when you put on Twist And Shout ”

I was watching the Oasis documentary film Supersonic last night (well worth a watch for any Oasis fans on the forum). I figured, the Gallaghers being massive Beatles fans, there may be mention or a reference to the band in the film. I wasn’t disappointed.
There’s a scene where they’re in a recording studio, and this picture is on a poster pinned to the wall next to where Liam is standing:

The Beatles landing back in England from America in 1964 have appeared at the beginning of ‘The Invention of Boris Johnson’ as apparently he was called “The Blonde Beatle’ by his family.
And whilst here, the band in the game ‘Homescape’ are called ‘The Heatles’.

Sometimes I have an interest in time as in for example thinking about stuff that happended in the same year. So when I learned that my grandparents silver wedding was on march 16th, I thought in my head “wait, my grandparents got married just 4 days after Paul and Linda’s wedding?!”

Listening to today’s World at One (recorded, not live, I’m running a few hours late listening today) on the BBC. Sarah Montague mentioned that Boris Johnson chose Here Comes The Sun as his first song on Desert Island Discs in 2005. He likes the song’s optimism.

I get to have another one today
book I am cataloging
has quotes at the beginning: one from from Sophocles, a Tibetan proverb, and this from THE BEATLES — Golden Slumbers “Once there was a way to get back homeward.” I’d say Sophocles and the Tibetan proverb are in good company.
