Macca’s because vast majority of people would recognise his, whereas Cornell is really only getting proper-mainstream reaction (at least this decade) since his death*, and even then I bet most people would not know how the Casino Royale theme went.

So you judge quality off popularity? I think popularity could be a concomitant of greatness, but not in all cases. One example is how everybody knows the song It’s A Small World, but it seems that song is also pretty universally disdained.

This happened like a month ago, but, I was in my dorm room and there were people in the living area talking (my room was right off the living room and my door was partially open so I could hear them). Somebody started singing “I Want To Hold Your Hand “, and this girl thought it was a BACKSTREET BOYS SONG. A conversation followed where they were trying to teach her about The Beatles, and it was very clear that she didn’t know anything about them, so at one point someone said to her “you’re lucky *Little Piggy Dragonguy* isn’t here”.

It’s a good thing quality isn’t based off popularity, especially considering that some people are popular for bad things, such as Hitler and Charles Manson.

Anyways, it’s funny that they thought I Want To Hold Your Hand was a Backstreet Boys song.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I’m in an argument in the Youtube channel over whether Chris Cornell’s Or Paul’s Bond theme is better. Then I get in the car and turn on Beatles radio, and Live And Let Die is on. A moment later I realized that Sigh Butterfly’s name is an homage to Its Only Love, and that song comes on next!

I saw Chris Cornell perform last July. Before he performed You Know My Name, he said something along these lines:

“Some really cool people knew my name and asked me if I would do the next James Bond theme. That would put me in a list of songs that includes Paul McCartney . How cool is that? Needless to say, I didn’t have to think about it very long.”

I did say I like his theme!!

I appreciate it is a good tune but overall Paul’s has more contrasting elements and generally has more excitement running through it which are the base requirements for a great Bond song.

I saw a girl with a shirt that said “Here Comes The Sun ” on it.

I also went to an ice cream shop, and they had a flavour called “Strawberry Fields”. paul-mccartney-thumb_gif

I spent some time with my friend the Oxford dictionary again today 😉 and when I looked up phrases containing ‘now’ there was this fabulous example sentence:

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

I had a lot of Beatley moments today, such as when I was thinking about the song In My Life because I was thinking about how times have changed, but there’ll be more on that in the appropriate thread.

Beatley moments are more events that you cannot control rather than moments you create; if it was the latter this thread would be filled with such posts as yours. Me wearing a Beatles t-shirt isn’t a contender for this thread, seeing someone wearing one is.

Uh, um…not that kind of demonstration.

BTW, are those the guys that George paid to picket in front of Paul’s and John’s houses when they wouldn’t let George have more songs on the later Beatles albums?

Beatley moment: During lunch break yesterday, I went to the music room, where I was having a discussion with someone I know, but not very well, and the discussion turned to: Paul McCartney ‘s best bassline! (to clarify: he started the topic, not me!) His top 3 are Something , Don’t Let Me Down and I Want You (She’s So Heavy). I got a very weird look when I said I don’t like Something ! My music teacher overheard this discussion, and disagreed with me, but agreed with the guy I was talking to!

You may dislike Something but you’ve got to admit it’s got a flowing bassline, no wonder the guy loved the bass part so much, although the other 2 aren’t as memorable, I would’ve said Nowhere Man , Something , and Penny Lane or something like that.

Oh, no doubt it’s a great bassline!

Ive had various Beatley moments over the last week, but I’ve forgotten them all. I vow to write them down next time! I think I overheard someone saying Ringo is the best drummer in the world… duh!
