For any of those who care, I actually visited the Beatles neighborhood for the first time on Saturday.  I took pictures of the street signs.  I did the best I could, but some of them were hard to get.

Was at the art supplies shop today and as we were checking out, I spotted a framed French ‘Les Beatles’ poster behind the counter. My grin was about this wide: ahdn_george_08

I was watching the great Only Connect earlier this evening.

It is a quiz show which has the basic premise of identifying what connects a group of four things in different ways with as few clues as possible. The second round tonight, where you have to identify what comes fourth in the sequence, had this:

(for three points)

(for two points)

Kings Elvis

(for one point)

Kings Elvis Zimmerman

What comes fourth, and what is the connection?

I got it after the second clue.

Answer

Kings Elvis Zimmerman Beatles

Connection.

What comes next in John’s song ‘God ‘ where he expresses what he doesn’t believe in with “Beatles” being last.

@William Shears Campbell Of course we care!

P.S. Blue Jay Way is near my mother’s house…

@meanmistermustard I’m impressed. I would have gotten it after Zimmerman only because after Elvis and Dylan came the Beatles.

What Kings was Lennon referring to?

@Into the Sky with Diamonds Any old kings, I suppose. Monarchs, tyrants, people who rule over you and whom you are supposed to revere whilst doing as they tell you.

That’s my guess, anyway.

What Kings was Lennon referring to?

I would think its a representation of man ruling man and having the power over fellow humans.

God ‘ would be in my list of top 3 Lennon solo tracks (and top 5 solo Beatles tracks – tho how on earth would you narrow that down?) and the change from Kings to Elvis, who was The King, always impresses me. It’s such a great way to link the two and then be able to move over to Zimmerman and finally Beatles seamlessly.

Law and Order episode: the police were discussing if man who was stalking a celebrity was dangerous. One of them said, “And Mark Chapman just wanted an autograph.”

Yesterday I went to Barnes and Nobles to get the new Rolling Stone magazine with Paul on the cover but they didn’t have it so I ended up getting two other Beatles magazines and the new Paul McCartney biography by Phillip Norman.

Other Beatley moment: I probably saw hundreds of people in Beatles/Paul McCartney /Wings shirts when I was in St. Louis last week for Paul’s concert. Personally, I decided against wearing a Beatles shirt to this Paul McCartney concert. I just feel like that makes it all too obvious. Kind of like wearing a Disney shirt at Disney World. I don;t know why but the idea just seems so strange to me. I did buy two shirts at the concert, but I waited until after the concert to put them on.

Today I was in the car with my mom, and My Sweet Lord started playing on the radio! Also, the very next song was Silly Love Songs, which was pretty fabulous a-hard-days-night-george-9

I was at a park today and it was a sort of lovely blue-skies-white-puffy-clouds day (+ 90% humidity and it was in the low 90s Fahrenheit a-hard-days-night-paul-3 but anyways); the sun came out from behind a cloud and someone who wasn’t me saidhummed, ‘Here Comes The Sun , doodooddoododoo’. ahdn_george_08

Just been watching Newsnight. There was an interview with Quincy Jones. Interviewer brought up that this has been a bad year for losses of great music talents, citing the loss of Bowie. Quincy responded that the last couple of years had been bad, and then said, “George Martin, David Bowie…”

Thought it interesting that, for Quincy, the loss of our beloved GM was more important than the loss of Bowie.
