Back when the iPhone and Macbook were a twinkle in Steve Jobs’ eye, there was a bigger Apple.
Set up by The Beatles in 1968 to release their songs and manage their creative affairs, Apple Corps was the first.
The dispute dates back to 1980, when the George Harrison noticed an advert for a fledgling computer company in a magazine.
The sides reached a deal in 1981 allowing Apple to use the name as long as it stuck to computers, while The Beatles’ company would continue in the entertainment field.
With the advent of iTunes and the iPod this changed and battle recommenced.
A deal was finally struck in 2007 with Jobs’ Apple taking full control of the brand, licensing certain trademarks back to Apple Corps.
.And here’s the link to the BBC report of the Apple Apple deal in 2007.

The other day (Thursday actually) I was having lunch with a friend at Dairy Queen and while we were there I saw a guy come in who was wearing this hoodie:
Oddly enough, that’s the exact same picture I have on one of my t-shirts. Here’s a picture of it I found online:
I’ve also seen about 3 people over the last week or so who were each wearing a Beatles shirt, but this was the most recent one I saw.

Have the people you’ve seen wearing these Beatles t-shirts young?
I hope more and more and more and more and more people “come out” and proclaim their Beatlefandom.

Umm… does it count if your band plays Here Comes The Sun and someone comes over and comments, ‘You played my favourite song!’ and they’re talking about HCTS? Cause that’s what happened.

I had two Beatley Moments today.
First of all, I went to a farmers market and a lady there was wearing a Beatles tank top with them from the Beatles cartoon.
The second one was on the drive home where I saw a business called Hari Stones.

Yeah, I’d say most of them were fairly young (except for an older guy I saw wearing a Revolver t-shirt). The other ones I saw were a girl wearing a shirt with the word “Beatles” and some sort of picture on it (I couldn’t see what it was unfortunately ) and a younger guy wearing this shirt:
Just goes to show you that the Beatles are still popular with people of all ages.

I went out for breakfast and I was wearing my John Lennnon NYC t-shirt and my round glasses, and my hair is getting longer, almost like John’s on my shirt, and the waitress said “I like the John Lennon thing you’ve got going on.”

I wore this one to The Fab Faux show on Saturday night.
After finding our seats, we went to get some refreshments. When we headed back to our seats, we flashed our tickets again to the usher. She told me not to worry about showing my ticket any more, assuring me by saying “I won’t forget that shirt.”

When I went to see ELO, before the show started ‘When We Was Fab’, ‘Flaming Pie ‘ and ‘Got My Mind Set on You’ all played through the speakers.
I didn’t know before then that Jeff Lynne co-produced Flaming Pie … Things We Learned Today A Few Days Ago, eh?
Oh, also when it ended I heard a lady say that she had seen The Beatles and The Rolling Stones perform separately at the same concert. Any idea when that could have been?

Uhmm… On Sept. 15, 1963 The Beatles and The Rolling Stones appeared on the same bill for a gig at the Royal Albert Hall
Here’s a program from the show:

Was watching 11.22.63 yesterday, which is a limited series about a dude who travels back in time to prevent Kennedy’s assassination from happening and which is based on the Stephen King book, and the main character, who, at that point, was in 1962, I think, started singing a bit of I Saw Her Standing There to the woman he was hitting on. Of course she had no idea who it was by, and asked. When the main character answered with ”John, Paul, George and Ringo”, she looked confused and said ”who?” and he said ”my imaginary friends”.
It’s a good series though.

@KaleidoscopeMusic is very keen on the book. She would have gotten a kick out of that Beatley moment.

I was in music class playing bass upside down, My music teacher came by (he knows i’m not left-handed because i usually play it normally) and asked if I was a beatles fan. Also a few people in my class were joking about a making a Revolution and i asked “one or nine?” sadly no one got it but it kind of made my day

That didn’t happen in the book, although it would have been swell if it did. Now that’s a main character I like–one that uses the Beatles as a pick-up line. I swear, it works every time.

There’s a parking garage downtown that has a song with a color in the name for each floor and they constantly play the songs by the elevators. A song for one of the floors is Yellow Submarine .
