I was flipping through the TV listings last night and an episode of a show called “Wingin’ It” was entitled “Live and Let Fly”. I looked it up online and found two more Beatles-related names for episodes: “Magical Kiss-Tery Tour” and “Lucy in the Sky with Carl”. I’ve never watched it, but I thought it was funny that I just happened to see that episode listed.

Steve Rushin’s column on the last page of Sports Illustrated had to do with some of the parallels between basketball and jazz (both American art forms which have become admired internationally). I can feel you fading–just stay with me for a minute. In commenting on names of basketball players, he observed that one current player’s name would be a good two word description of George Harrison : Fab Melo. Pretty good, huh @Beatlebug?

Beatlebug, Ahhh GirlI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

I have my car Sirius radio set to alert me when certain bands are playing on a channel I’m not currently tuned to. My Thursday commute routine is to listen to Tom Petty’s Buried Treasure show, while resisting the temptation to channel surf when one of the alerts pops up (I’m pretty obsessive about surfing, looking for just the right tune, so this is harder for me than it sounds). Tom always plays at least one Beatles song each show, and yesterday it was Dear Prudence . About halfway through the song, I got a Beatles alert. And then another. And then another. And another still, one on top of the other, in about 5 seconds. A cascade of Beatles. A waterfall. I didn’t know what to do! (I kept my “don’t surf” pledge somehow, somehow, and finished Dear Prudence .)

Yesterday at the beginning of the music program I was performing in, Penny Lane was playing in the background. I started hyperventilating a bit like a Beatlemaniac so my friend had me say all of their names.

Decided to throw on my old Parlophone (R 5655) single, Hello Goodbye and I Am The Walrus . Absolutely love the nostalgia, but don’t miss the ticks & pops, and more importantly having to get up to flip the record!

A Beatley moment as defined on this thread is more one that you did not plan but came more unexpectedly, otherwise the thread would be filled with “I thought of Paul today” type posts.

This morning I went to a local coffee shop with my mom and grandpa for coffee and (homemade) donuts. For music there, they only play records on a turntable near the back (which I think is kind of cool) and shortly after we got settled at a table I caught a glimpse of what the next album was going to be. You know what it was? John’s “Rock ‘N’ Roll ” album!!! As soon as I saw the cover and heard the beginning of Be-Bop-a-Lula, my heart was almost pounding out of my chest. To say I was excited to hear it would be an understatement. That was the last thing I expected to hear today, that’s for sure! Even though I appeared calm and collected on the outside, I was freaking out (in a good way) on the inside. Sadly, that was the only Beatles-related record they played while we were there (the album after RnR was “Rumours” by Fleetwood Mac).
So anyways, that was the highlight of my day (or possibly my whole week).

I just helped a student find some journal articles for an assignment. In the list of search results in the database, I saw

A Percentage of Cases Result from Subclinical PID sounds like an article listing how many people think he is dead vs. those of us who know better.
