Yesterday , my friend told me to mention 5 successful musicians that don’t read music. I got four with one word.

I sketchily heard someone sing Yellow Submarine at lunch a few days ago. That same day, my mom was trying to explain to me what a theme in English was, she used Yellow Submarine as an example

In one of my latest library conquests, this character was telling some aliens (who pretty much thought that humans were hopelessly primitive and barbaric) that there were kind humans in the world, and mentioning how ‘violent extremists have robbed mankind of some truly gifted and passionate visionaries’ and lists a couple, including John Lennon .

A cover band, called The Analogues, performed All You Need Is Love during a Dutch talk show, in connection with the recent Paris attacks.
They did a good job.

Saw a girl wearing a Beatles shirt I believe last Tuesday. I thought I posted about it earlier, but I guess not
Also, I showed one of my friends Revolution 9 . Her reaction was “Who would make this?”
“The Beatles”
“The Beatles made this?”

I was just going through all the new threads @Joe posted for the John & Paul solo songs (thanks, BTW – luv ’em!!). A few of the songs made me feel a bit wistful as the date of John’s death is less than a month away. That also brought out a bit of the anger I feel whenever I am reminded of “The A*****e In The Orange Jumpsuit”. It was at that exact point, that I clicked on the dropdown menu for “New/Recently Updated Topics”. At the top of the list was ‘Scumbag’. I swear it was John who put it there at the right time, just to make me laugh and feel better*.
*That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Okay so last night I was at McDonald’s with my mom, (yes, I know I have horrible taste in fast food) and Because started playing on the radio. My mom, who is a casual Beatles fan at best, said “I think this is the LOVE version.” To which I replied “No, that’s silly. Why would they play the LOVE version on the radio?” The radio was very quiet so we could only barely hear the words, so I found the place where the sound was emanating from and put my ear up to it. Lo and behold, it was the LOVE version. I don’y know if I should be proud of my mom, or disappointed at myself. Probably both…
(also the next song that came on the radio was It Won’t Be Long . It must have been a Beatles station or something!)

Given the choice, I’d have gone with “proud of my mom”. Cool story.

Cool mom and cool McDonalds! When you eat there again, let us know if they played more Beatles music.

Well, she’s cool most of the time. The only exception is when I try to put in some Eagles or Led Zeppelin CD’s when we’re in the car, she’ll just complain and yell until I turn them off. But she never objects to listening to the Beatles at least.

On Law and Order just now, a family visiting NYC told a street food vendor that they were looking for the John Lennon Memorial. He told them it was at 71st.

I was watching an old Gilmore Girls (come on, don’t judge–you watch some weird stuff too). Rory was in Lane’s room and they were looking at CDs. Rory pulls one out and says “Yoko Ono?” Lane says, “hey, she was a totally under appreciated artist. And the Beatles would have broken up anyway.” Maybe this was more of an @Expert Textpert moment.

Ahhh Girl, Beatlebug, Mr. Kite, natureaker, Expert TextpertI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

My friend was looking up a song and told me to close my eyes. Of course, I started singing “All My Loving .” Then the song “We Can Work It Out ” played. It’s been around 3 hours and as soon as I started writing this, the same song started playing on TuneIn. Freaky.

Yesterday Silly Dad and I were talking about something to do with insides and outs, and I went, ‘Your inside is out and your outside is in’, and he answered, ‘Your outside is in and your inside is out’, and I said, ‘But come on!’ And he said, ‘Hey, take it easy.’

I was in my favorite little beer store earlier today – it never ceases to amaze me how many different varieties they offer in such a small place. Anyway, I walked around the corner of one of the aisles and was stopped in my tracks by the sight of one of my all time favorite ales – one that until today, they had never stocked before. Right then, the opening piano riff of Ringo’s ‘Oh My My’ rang out.
Oh my my, indeed Richy!
