<snip> Also, there’s a girl in my class named Lucy and now I’m relating her to LITSWD
I have a friend named Lucy.
When I was younger, so much younger than today, people used to think I liked Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds simply because of my friend. But it wasn’t so! I just liked the song– the rest was a happy coincidence.

Today at school I saw a guy with a Help ! shirt, I’d have talked to him, but I have a strict policy of talking to no one (and by that I mean: I’m shy and don’t expect me to talk much If I don’t know you very well, even less If this is the first time I see you). Though, I must admit I’m a bit jealous because I don’t have that one, but I’m also kinda happy, Beatles shirts are always good (and they’re even better when they’re mine).
And in English class we had to make groups of two and make questions about “old people”, and let’s say someone and her best friend made questions like “Was George Harrison a French king?” (with a little heart in the i of Harrison) and “Was Michael Jackson a famous footballer?” and some classmates* asked her for the name of some Beatle to use in their questions. Also, we had some exercise of filling the gaps, and one of the sentences was “The Beatles ____ architects, they ___ musicians”, and, yeah, someone actually said they were architecs, no kidding.
* One of them once saw me and my friend looking at some Beatles’ pictures (what else do you do at school?) and asked me if they weren’t five.

Which reminds me– part of my American Lit class is online and as I haven’t figured out my avatar yet, my temporary one is

(They all know which student that is, seeing as I openly flaunted my Beatles t-shirt the very first day.)

I hope not either. Plus, I think we’ve been getting a “friendly reminder” from random students not to do drugs, because I’ve already seen at least 6 people wear the same shirt all week telling us not to.
Also saw a kid in my social studies class wearing a Beatles shirt today. Though, I never realized it until the last class, when there was a fire drill and we were standing outside

Talk about your Beatley moments! I was reading an amusing little column by Steve Rushin in Sports Illustrated about significant dates in sports history. February 22 was the date of the US 1980 Olympic hockey victory and Dr. J’s birthday. In the last paragraph, a full-out Beatle rapture came out of nowhere:
“February 22 is also the day the Beatles recorded the famous final note of ‘A Day In The Life .’ This is in 1967, the Late Winter of Love, when five men played a thunderous E major chord on three pianos and a harmonium at the same time, providing the best sound on the best song on the best band’s best album, on what may be the best day ever. At the very least its further proof there’s a Life in the Day, every day of the year.”

Yesterday had its share of Beatley moments:
We went into the bookshop, and in the front window I saw a poster advertising vinyl was now available. My first thought was ‘Since when does Barnes & Noble sell records?’ Then I saw the
Inside, I made a beeline to the record rack, and there, gleaming before my eyes, was a life-sized
12 x 12. Wo yeah.
I drooled over the glossy records for a moment, noting Abbey Road , Revolver , Rubber Soul , Beatles For Sale , Sgt. Pepper , Imagine , Double Fantasy , New, and The Wall among them. Then I was forced to recall my errand.
Before I left I put Revolver on the front ’cause it’s prettiest.
On my way out I saw a Rolling Stones magazine feature on 1965 in rock music, and of course the Beatles were on the cover. I had a little LuvyerGeorge moment (he was looking simply beautiful in that photo, which I hadn’t seen before).
Then, later, I was looking through a list of Walmart employees who have reached milestones (don’t ask– I’m a cereal box reader), and there under my old home state was one Patricia Boyd.
A coincidence? Of course. But a very interesting one all the same.

I went to a work get to know thingy earlier (i forget the right word) and one of the chairs is from London and has the Abbey Road crossing with “Beatles” printed on it. Cant remember much else from the day apart from that.
This means that both of my jobs have Beatles stuff as the other has a mounted jigsaw puzzle of the Movie Medley cover on one of the walls.

..And guess who forgot to post another Beatley moment again! I have really bad memory..
Before I joined the forum, I went to this mini parade, and people dressed up as anything. Planes, a crab.. then 4 girls dressed up as The Beatles. At the time, I hadn’t heard many of the songs, but I was becoming quite obsessed. And the best part was in the audience, some parents started chanting lyrics to Yellow Submarine and All You Need Is Love .

A speaker on campus today said that a certain process was a long and winding road. Then he said, “That’s a John Lennon and Paul McCartney song.”
My heart stopped for a minute because he made what seemed to be a really, really long pause after he said John Lennon . I thought he was going to leave Paul out of the equation, and I was going to have to stand up and throw a hissy fit.

I like George’s quote on the plaque:
“For the forest to be green, each tree must be green.”
A google search brings up that its from an interview with David Wigg on the 8th October 1969 and was a saying by the Maharishi.
DAVID: “George, how did you come to record Hare Krishna?” (Radha Krishna Temple, LP produced by George Harrison )
GEORGE: “Because the people from the Radha Krishna Temple were over here since about a year. And I got to know a couple of them, because they were in and out of Apple office. And I’ve known about Hare Krishna Mantra anyway for a number of years. Originally, the Spiritual Master made a record in America which didn’t really sell well. And apparently the people ran off with the money. But I got to know about it. And also in India, you know, they chant those sort of things all over the place. The thing about the word ‘Hare’ is the word that calls upon the energy that’s around from the Lord. Whichever Lord you like, really. But in this case it happens to be Krishna… which is like the words that Christ said became the Christian Bible. And the words that Krishna said became the sort of Hindu Bible called the Bhagwat Ghita. So it’s just by merely the repetition of that. It’s the same if you were just to go round chanting Christ, Christ, Christ, Christ. If you say it long enough then you build up this identification. Whatever you identify with, you become one with it. So it’s really a method of becoming one with God .”
DAVID: “I see.”
GEORGE: “It’s just another process. It’s really the same sort of thing as meditation, but this is the thing– it has more effect, I think. Or quicker effect, because music is such a powerful force. And it’s like God likes me when I work, but loves me when I sing.” (chuckles)
DAVID: (laughs)
GEORGE: “But it’s really the same end as meditation. The response that comes from it is in the form of bliss. The more you do it, the more you don’t wanna stop it, because it feels so nice. Peaceful. I believe in the saying, ‘If there’s a God , we must see him.’ And I don’t believe in the idea like, in most churches they say now, you’re not gonna see him, he’s way above you. Just believe what we tell you and shut up. Well, their whole thing is a different way. It’s a process of actually having that realization and direct God perception, which is the thing you can attain through chanting and through meditation. And then you don’t have any questions. You don’t have to ask the vicar about this, because it all becomes clear with the expanded state of consciousness. But you don’t get it in five minutes. It’s something that takes a long time. So it’s really… It’s like to Give Peace A Chance , or All You Need Is Love . The thing is, you can’t just stand there and say, love, love, love or peace, peace, peace and get it. You have to have a direct process of attaining that. Like Christ said, ‘Put your own house in order.’ Maharishi said, ‘For a forest to be green, each tree must be green.’ So the same for the world to have peace, each individual must have peace. And you don’t get it through society’s normal channels. And that’s why each individual must tend to himself and get his own peace. And that way the whole society will have peace.”

I go to Memphis often to visit my mom, @natureaker. We walk down Beale Street quite often. I’ll now think about it being Beatle Street 🙂
