A teenage lass was wearing a Beatles denim jacket outside the GOMA library in Glasgow this afternoon; i told her i liked the jacket, she looked surprised.

Paul’s episode of The Simpsons was just on Sky1 (not seen it years).

I found a copy of Ringo’s ‘Photograph: Best of’ in a charity shop which i picked up.

Not bad going.

We were watching an episode of American Dad! in which Stan had Francine committed to a mental institution for 72 hours in order to give him more time to buy her an anniversary present. In one scene, the drooling drug addled patients were dressed up as rock stars for a fake talent show. Francine was dressed as Ringo on the Pepper cover.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

I went to see Tomorrowland with my dad today, and one of the main characters was wearing a John Lennon T-shirt. I applaud her taste in T-shirts– if I ever get zapped to another dimension, I’ll make sure to wear a Beatles T-shirt. And speaking of which, I just got a new one. Fab day, and that… a-hard-days-night-george-9

Over the weekend:

  • We were at a restaurant with live music (which was absolute torture for a guitar-player who has been away from her guitar), and they played Honey Don’t
  • I saw a girl with a John Lennon T-shirt. Tried but failed miserably to compliment her on it. (I’m horrid at approaching strangers) a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

I was talking with my grandmother today about the weather. It was rainy today and it’s going to be rainy for a couple more days. She told me that she didn’t mind the rain, that it’s all the same to her and she doesn’t get what people have against it. She was basically paraphrasing Rain . It was amusing.

Watching ‘Just A Minute’ and one of the subjects was ‘The Fifth Beatle’. Shappi Khorsandi got berated for saying they weren’t genii. a-hard-days-night-john-1

I was complemented on my Beatles t-shirt today. apple01

Sports Illustrated, referring to Lebron James’ glamorous time as a member of the Miami Heat, describes him as a “Heatle.”

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Well…the Heat is a basketball team; I think it was intended to be an allusion to the fact that when one has reached the pinnacle of success and fame, he would be considered to have similar status to a Beatle.  Plus, Lebron took to calling his team the ‘Heatles’ during the height of their glory.

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Oops, sorry AG, I took off on my own flight of pedantic fancy. I do find it interesting however, that Lebron James, born 14 years after the breakup of the Band, equates the the highest level of fame and glory to the status of the Beatles.

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

I forgot to tell you guys this. Last Friday morning while driving to work I passed a vehicle with this license plate number:

LMW 281F

Oh, how I wish I could tell you it was a VW Beetle. It was on a flippin’ minivan. ahdn_paul_01
