 There is a show on the telly at the moment about the connection between Liverpool and Ireland, last 15 minutes is on the connection between Ireland and The Beatles, I’ll post a link once it comes up on the I-player, it’s quite good and in the spirit of St. Patrick’s you could do a great drinking game for every time a Beatles song comes up. Twenty minutes in and about 30 songs have been played

The other day, my mom was talking about John Fogerty, one of her favorite artists and one of mine as well (lead guy and songwriter for Creedence Clearwater Revival, was recently discussed in another thread).  She said one of his guitar lick song intros was listed as the 7th most recognizable lick in r&r/pop.  I immediately thought “I bet Ticket To Ride is higher”, but didn’t say anything because I’m sure she’s sick of all my Beatles talk after a year straight!  Plus I’m not sure on that, but TTR does have a very recognizable intro.  I just think it’s funny that it popped into my head immediately – I didn’t even have to think, I wonder which Beatles songs have famous intros?

I know a lady whose friends son was a member of the security team of Graceland in the early to mid 90s. Now the lady I’m talking about is a massive Elvis fan she’s loved him since the late ’50s. She managed to snag a trip to go see Graceland and she did the general public tour and all that yapyap but she was really angry that she didn’t get to see his bedroom (what I said-big Elvis fan). So everyday for about a week she would go to Elvis’ house and just wished to get to see the rest of his place.

She is a very religious lady and on the last day she prayed to God saying ‘just let me get into Elvis’ bedroom’. The lad who was a part of security said “you will not get into Elvis’ bedroom, there are 3 executives who have to stay in the main house where Elvis’ room is until midnight, the minute they leave electric sensors go on. The executives won’t let you in, they haven’t left that house early since Elvis died.

Well low and behold the executives managed to leave early that night, leaving general staff and the lights and doors opened in the building. So of course she went into the house, past ‘The Jungle Room’ and up to Elvis’ bedroom, along the way she passed Priscilla’s room but she doesn’t like Priscilla so she passed by it. Well the minute she set her eyes on Elvis’ bed, she jumped up on it and in her own words “it was the softest bed I have ever been on”. She went into his en-suite bathroom and in his bathroom were a load of his belts and jumpsuits! Unfortunately Elvis was skinnier than her so she didn’t fit into the jumpsuits She got her picture taken on Elvis’ bed and managed to sneak out without ever being caught.
