While teaching my last class of the day today, during the part where I dialogue with them about choosing a topic for their policy/persuasive speech, I came across this part of the list in the database of possible topics:
- Flat Tax (July 18, 2005)
- Flu Vaccinations (July 15, 2009)
- Food Safety (Aug. 12, 2013)
- Food Safety Regulation (Dec. 19, 2008)
- Food Stamps (July 12, 2010)
I busted out laughing over “Food Safety” . So I told them about my Irn Bru experience and the conversation about whether it was banned from import into Canada for one of its ingredients and all that jazz. While the students were working on their worksheet, I left the Irn Bru USA website up on the projector, and the students, class professor, and I made a few comments about it. Perhaps I can make a sale or two??
I think I just might have talked a couple of students from different sections of the public speaking course to do their event speech on either the sacking of Pete Best or the Apple Rooftop Concert.

The discussion on Queenie Eye at the news thread reminds me that Saturday, I was discussing the Grammys with my hairdresser, who said the song made her feel like she should be on a merry-go-round while listening to it. That may be my favorite reaction of all.

And now the morning DJs on KROQ are arguing about “Queenie Eye ” again, in light of Paul and Ringo’s upcoming appearance on Letterman. I love how they talk about this song more than stations that might actually play it.

Two Beatley moments
First, one is actually my husband’s. We were watching David Letterman last night because they are suppose to have a Beatles week on there. David came on, introduce the show, cracked a few jokes, and then I think it went to commercial. He didn’t announce anything Beatley, although he did later, so I was like “maybe I read wrong”. As it was fading away to commercial, the band was playing a song. My husband said, “Hey, they are playing ‘Come Together ‘.” “Really? How do ya know?”, I said. “I know the rhythm!”, he said. I didn’t quite pick up the rhythm or tune as quickly because it was being played different, kind jazzy. He later said in a fake Liverpudlian accent, “A Beatles’ fan never misses a beat”. That is spin from a quote from The Fifth Beatle graphic novel where John says, “A Beatle never misses a beat.” Yay, I’ve taught him well.
Second one was during one of the commercial breaks of David Letterman. I can not recall what the commercial was for, but they were playing “Imagine ” with John actually singing and not some other singer!

My grocery store does not fail to disappoint me! Trip #6, with 4 out of the 6 times them playing Beatle music!! When I walked in yesterday, they were playing “Band On The Run ” and at the check out “Something ” came on! WOW! I wonder who is choosing their music? Awesome.
Then! We recently found out our oldest son is going to Germany – Munich to be specific in March!! I am already trying to “suggest” (aka beg?!) that he swing by Hamburg and get some “Beatle pictures” for his Mama. He laughed, but said he would if time permitted 🙂

“On my way to work,” this morning I was listening to KCSN, and they played “Early Days .” That’s the first time I’ve heard the song during a non-Beatley hour.

Yesterday night, just as I was setting my alarm up, I read on my phone’s screen: “Fab 4” in the place of where the date usually stands.
It took me a long while to realize that it actually said “Feb 4”.

I dreamt I was in NYC this week and I attended the Fest for Beatles Fans.
Won’t be doing that, but I’ll be going to the LA version later this year!

Oh, I imagine that’ll be hugely fun.
Shoot, I just realized I’m so in the habit of posting to Beatley Moments, I realized I should have posted in Beatle dreams. Ah, well.

I just found out that my new hire’s sister is a huge Beatles fan. My new hire buys Beatley swag for her sisrer’s birthday and Christmas presents.

While watching a recent episode of ‘Almost Human’, a character played by John Larroquette was named Nigel Vaughan.
If the next character had been named Ivan Walley, I would have been wondering which of the show’s writers was the Beatles fan.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.
