Examiner article on HM. I don’t think I’ve seen such biting writing from Steve before. :-)

Piers Morgan bites back at HM.

“I suspect performing with Paul McCartney was a dream come true for both Rihanna and Kanye, as it is for almost every singer in the world. The Beatles, like Elvis and Sinatra, remain the gold standard for any popular musician, however young or old. And Paul’s the only genius from the three still alive – no offence to Ringo,” he railed.

“Second, because I doubt a single teenager in the entire world would ever recognise Heather Mills in the street, let alone identify her as a ski-racer or animal saviour.”

Mr Morgan admitted that he and Ms Mills don’t see eye to eye personally, joking that “to say we have history together is like saying the Bush family had ‘a bit of previous’ with Saddam Hussein.”

I came up with this acronym last night:

FACBWAG

Former And Current Beatle Wives And Girlfriends

and I nearly laughed my head off! It sounds like something you’d hack up after a bad cold. a-hard-days-night-paul-3a-hard-days-night-john-6

Which Beatle girl are you quiz

I’m Barbara, Linda, Olivia and Yoko all at the same time a-hard-days-night-paul-10 I think I broke the quiz. At least I got 0% for Heather Mills a-hard-days-night-george-9

Even though I think these things are stupid, I did it anyway, just out of curiosity, and I got 100% Yoko. yoko-ono_01

I already answered the question before but I love Jane’s style and her hair :)

Me too!

Who are the people mentioned in the letter? Do we know what John sent Julian for his birthday that year?

Was this written during the “Lost Weekend”? Was it sent from New York?

Jeff was his friend from art school. And yes, Lost Weekend, sent from NY.

Do you think John would have written it if he were not in the “Lost Weekend” phase?

Probably not…but then according to May Pang John was very wary of Cynthia even during the Lost Weekend, always assuming she was trying to get back with him.

Wogblog article on revelations in the Daily Mail that the woman she lost John to was not Yoko but Alma Cogan (who John supposedly believed was “the true love of his life”) and it was Alma’s death in October 1966 that led and resulted in John becoming involved with Yoko whom he first met a couple of weeks later.

“The woman he’d perhaps earmarked to replace his beloved Aunt Mimi [his mother’s sister, who helped to raise him] in his affections was now lost to him.

Like Yoko in so many ways, Alma was a very compelling woman. You couldn’t really say that either of them was beautiful, could you, not in the conventional sense… When Alma died from ovarian cancer, aged only 34, John was inconsolable.

He met Yoko when he needed to, just a fortnight into his grief. She was this obsessive fan who’d turn up and follow him around.

She irritated the life out of John to begin with. But Alma died and something odd happened to John. Things turned. Yoko must have seen her opportunity and seized it. She wore the trousers and would control and dominate John for the rest of his life. Yoko was John’s new Aunt Mimi. She worked out what John needed in a woman, right under my nose, and she reinvented herself.”

Number of times the original Beatle wives got married (or have been married in the case of PB) after they were married to a Beatle.

0 – Linda McCartney
1 – Maureen Starkey
2 – Pattie Boyd
3 – Cynthia Lennon

John Lennon widow Yoko Ono designs coffee cup line inspired by tragedies

From the article

Yoko Ono is expressing herself through espresso cups.

The artist and widow of John Lennon has designed a collection of cups and saucers featuring the dates and places of six tragic events written in Ono’s handwriting, such as the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945 and the day Lennon was shot and killed in 1980. A seventh cup appears untouched to represent hope.

The collection is titled “Yoko Ono: Mended Cups – illy Art Collection” and is inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese technique of repairing cracked pottery with brushstrokes of gold.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen the name ”Alma Cogan”. FFS John.
