This is taken from a tweet by @FabFourFacts (go follow them if you're on Twitter): “There are seventeen Beatles songs that mention the sun or sunshine. How many can you name?”
The obvious ones are Here Comes The Sun , Sun King , Rain . There's also Any Time At All (“If the sun has faded away”) and Yellow Submarine (“So we sailed on to the sun”). Without looking them up, what are the others?
Mother Nature's Sun doesn't count 😉

You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. But Mickey and Titch and I would like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two.

I'll Follow the Sun
Also, Across The Universe : “Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns”
Dear Prudence : “The sun is up, the skies are blue”
Good Night : “Now the sun turns out his light”
I Am The Walrus . “Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun”
I've Got a Feeling: “Everybody saw the sunshine”
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds : “Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes and she's gone”
That's all I've got.
Oh, one thing! Mother Nature's Son would count. “Swaying daisies sing a lazy song beneath the sun”

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.
Well spotted! I forgot that line in MN'sS.
“Two Of Us standing solo, in the sun.”
EDIT – pah, you beat me to it, Zig. Great minds…

I think the word sun or son is in number 9, it goes something like “as my headmaster reported to me, the sun (or son) can try…something”, it's right before, “you could tell what he was saying, his voice was low and his eyes were high” and blah blah blah so if anyone wants to decipher it, be my guest.

“The Word ” — “It's so fine, it's sunshine.”
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

This is a great topic! I've been thinking about making a list of Beatles' songs with 'sun' contained somewhere in the lyrics and I'm delighted to see that someone is a step ahead. Now, for a slightly different topic, how many of these 17 songs (assuming that's the lot) also mention rain or some word containing rain? I don't know the full answer but I'll start it off with 3 obvious songs that qualify: I'll Follow the Sun; Rain ; Two of Us. How many more . . . ?
Oh – and I might as well add Band On The Run (I'm new to this forum and I haven't yet gotten around to reading other topics so I don't know if solo Beatle output is on-topic). Since I don't have much listening experience with the solo work I would really like to know how many of those tunes include the sun/rain reference.
Thanks!
