Hi there,
New to the forum, I have a question about shows that the Beatles did in the 60s.
My Father In Law swears he saw the Beatles in Johannesburg as a young lad around 1963-1967. He says there were dining tables in a large room, and that it may have been a private function. He was very young and the venue or show might have had something to do with “moon.” He vividly remembers their hairstyles as something he had never seen before.
Is this possible? I wonder if there is a list of every show – even the smaller more obscure performances or a way to know if they had been hired to play there.
I’ve only had cursory glance over the internet but it’s a bigger question than I can answer quickly. Come on superfans let me know so I can confirm or deny this admittedly great story!
Thanks.

The Beatles had refused to play South Africa in the ’60s,
@Ron Nasty, I’ve found several websites with this information
In 1966, McCartney reflected, “We weren’t into prejudice. We were always keen on mixed-race audiences. With that being our attitude, shared by all the group, we never wanted to play South Africa or any places where blacks would be separated. It wasn’t out of any goody-goody thing. We just thought, ‘Why should you separate black people from white? That’s stupid, isn’t it?’”
Do you know what reporter it was and if the interview is anywhere to read/listen to?
