I just heard on the news the a George Harrison tribute tree was attacked by actual beetles. The link was online, but I could not get out up. A little ironic.

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry lets slip in a Chicago Sun-Times interview that he’s recently recorded with Paul McCartney .

“I did a [recording] session with Paul McCartney a month and a half ago for a private thing,” Perry said in a phone conversation earlier this week. “I met him once or twice [over the years] to say hello. To spend 6 or 8 hours in studio with him recording! He makes you feel like [you’re recording with just another guy]. He just happens to be a mother——g huge talent! Everyone’s in the room at once; you play until you get a good take.”

Perry talked about the recording session — oh so briefly.

Q. So what was it like jamming with Paul McCartney ?
Joe Perry: It’s the great ego leveler. I was in the studio with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, playing guitar, and the three of us are looking at each other like, hey, we’re sitting here with Paul McCartney ! And we’re all looking at each other like open-mouthed kids. Paul was really nice. He’s all about business [when he’s recording]. At 72 he can still hit all those notes.

Q. So did this session yield a new single?
JP: It’s a project that were keeping under wraps for now. There will be [an announcement when the time is right].

Scientists at Michigan (USA) Lawrence Technological University have developed a way to analyze music that recently put all the Beatles albums in chronological order, just by listening — no need to look up the dates. The method, created by assistant professor Lior Shamir and grad student Joe George, converts the audio into visual data using a spectrum analyzer and then goes at it with a powerful image analyzer.

The system looks for certain chord structures or larger elements like the lengths and types of choruses. By comparing these between albums, it can tell which are most closely associated, and from there, determine which came earliest. It figured out the whole Beatles discography.

Very nice – I hope they release Wonderwall Music and Electronic Sound separately. I’m guessing album 7 is Concert for Bangladesh?

Paul McCartney recording with Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry to work on a top secret new project. – EXPRESS

The Beatles legend recently headed to the U.S. to restart his postponed tour after a bout of ill health which landed him in hospital in Japan.

It has now emerged McCartney has been taking part in secret studio sessions with a trio of famous stars inbetween his tour dates.

Perry reveals the group recorded together but he refuses to give any more detail about the top secret project, telling the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper, “It’s the great ego leveler. I was in the studio with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, playing guitar, and the three of us are looking at each other like, hey, we’re sitting here with Paul McCartney ! And we’re all looking at each other like open-mouthed kids.

“Paul was really nice. He’s all about business (when he’s recording). At 72 he can still hit all those notes… It’s a project that we’re keeping under wraps for now. There will be (an announcement when the time is right).”

He adds of working with McCartney, “I met him once or twice (over the years) to say hello. To spend six or eight hours in (a) studio with him recording! He makes you feel like (you’re recording with just another guy). He just happens to be a motherf**king huge talent!”

The news comes just days after Hollywood actor Depp joined Perry’s band Aerosmith on stage at their gig in Massachusetts to play guitar.

From the link mmm just posted:

Also not yet revealed are when the next McCartney reissues from Concord Music are to come. Annoucements are supposed to be very very soon, sources tell Beatles Examiner. But Amazon is also showing listings for “import” versions of “Wings At The Speed Of Sound ” and “Venus & Mars” on Sept. 24. The prices listed are not cheap: $71.99 for “Venus & Mars” and a whopping “$213.99” for “Wings At The Speed Of Sound .”

I’d read about that in the past, but was not aware of the character assignments. Thanks for posting that.
